| I just watched all the my hero OVAs. Do or die survival training straight up sucked, specially in terms of visuals with it constantly having out of model character. which is something that I rarely care about, but it was so much that even my 10 year sister noticed the characters look weird. And while other ones were fun, they didn't really leave an impression on me. Except maybe the zombie one, that one had a few really funny gags, and seeing more of Tsu was great. This one was unique, well animated and different. It pretty much gives you everything you could want from a random side story that doesn't matter. so why does it have the lowest rating? Is it just because of s5 being the weakest season and this coming out around the same time? |

| @certifiedbinger But I'm not asking why it's low. the score makes sense in a vacuum and would be typical for a random ova. I am asking why is it lower than the other ovas even though it's one of, if not the best one? (btw if you want to remember what it was for better context, the 2 episodes are the baseball game and the one about Mr smiley.) |

It's far better that the underground water one if nothing else. so I'm not really asking why the score is low. the score makes sense. I'm asking why it's LOWER than the other ovas. |

| @Biisoo That is the least helpful comment I have ever seen. I know the average rating on the season is lower, which means on average people seem to have liked the other ones more. That is indeed how scores work. I'm asking why is that, what is the thing that has made people like this one generally less, since I have failed to see the issue myself. My best guess is that it's a popularity thing and s5 being poorly received, but that's a guess. I made this thread to see why people don't agree with me, not to confirm it. |

In order to contribute more to your question, Allow me to elaborate. Its a general given when you look at almost every single OVA associated with an anime that their score is lower than the actual series which it arised from. I will tell 2 reasons why this is so, 1. Firstly the OVAs are released way after the original entry has finished airing and so less people even know about its existence. 2. The content of the OVA itself isnt actual worth giving an 8/10. In my case, if I watch an OVA, I rank it based on that one episode and not the series as whole as do most other people. I cant remember the exact contents of this OVA but it probably wasnt either enjoyable enough or was released at a weird time for people to appreciate it. Third point could be what you mentioned that, The OVA is scored according to the succeeding season so if the season itself was rated low then the coming OVA will be rated low aswell. Although My hero seasons are generally rated more on the high end side, But again this is just my observation. Like how you mentioned the fact why this OVA is rated so low even though you enjoyed it is solely based on your experience. There are cases when people dont critical analyze stuff and just rate it a 6 or 7 out of ten since it was just acceptable. I think I gave this a 7 and I cant recall when I watched it so not too sure about whether it was that bad or that good. |
