Well, that OP song looks like a piece of art. A mixture of character interactions and segments featuring the cast along with what seems like an ensemble together.

Well, it's obvious this show is based on music with its chereography and style so far. I'm not too impressed yet. I mean, these guys had trouble catching a skunk..? Not sure if this is my type of anime yet based on first impressions. At least they got the flow of the anime going somewhat with the character chemistry between cast members.

Ooh...a musical series, and it's regarding choir, one of my high school interests. Is this a hearkening to Spring 2022's Healer Girl? Unfortunately...nope.

The musical orchestra conductor Haruo Hibiki being tasked to helm a boys-only choir in Kawagoe Boys' Academy (which is lacking in the performing arts), and aim for the top position, that's quite the tall order. And upon chasing the school headmaster's pet masked palm civet (whom is also his grandmother), he encounters the one hopeful of Tenshi "Cardbocchi" Dei from a shop selling canelé, being able to join his rag-tag group, though his personality comes off as being a very pushy adult who cannot read people. Together with Cardbocchi's friends of Hiroshi Yazawa and Shuji "Ei-chan" Shiratori, the trio follow him to chase after Ratel, though attacking it does reap some consequences.

Even in the bath, Haruo still wants the trio to act like a choir, which is just uncalled for. With music conductor Rika Iijima's introduction, the trio prepare what they were told to...though that was kinda misplaced for putting expectations on them in the first place just by telling them what to do without any tutorial. The dance plays out, but Cardbocchi exits out because of his closed personality, which at least his friends were able to nail their practices. Haruo brings him back to his usual self, which helps...but that Haruo is not teaching them?

Whatever it is, I'm hoping that Brothers Conflict director Jun Matsumoto knows what he's doing, because this hasn't really sold me yet.

Ehh, dunno. Wasn't a big fan of the first episode. I guess I'm gonna skip this one. My Mondays are already too stacked in this season.

That skunk was amusing. We even got a PreCure reference.

Oh, well. Have fun with this, guys.

Wowowowow Am I dreaming? This is the first ever Choir anime. And all-boy nonetheless! I can smell the BL aroma even without that bathing scene (but thanks for that scene anyway LOL).

East meets West is my first impression, which is good so far.

Oh look, it's Glee! :D

It was actually better than I expected, the first few minutes and the OP caught my attention instantly.

It became more goofy later on, the conductor guy is so casually creepy, lol. But I liked the group of boys so far, it could be quite an interesting and fun show.

Wow, it's rare (if not impossible) to see an anime specifically about choir. There's plenty of anime about singing, and about boys specifically singing (try out any slew of idol anime) but not specifically chorus.

As someone who was in chorus for over 7 years and now studies music/music education on the side, I immediately got excited when I saw the description for this anime by chance.

So far, I'm curious about it! And of course, I was sucked in right away by Tenshi's singing of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot--a gospel standard, if there ever was one. Knowing the difficulties of singing in different languages, I was proud of the care taken by the vocalist of Tenshi to focus on pronunciation and dictation of the words, to the point where an English audience, if they were only hearing, could understand the words.

Haruo Hibiki is pompous and stuck-up, exactly as expected. He wants desperately so much out of these students because he sees the reward (he gets re-instated as a Philharmonic conductor), but currently is unable to see what can be offered by learning in turn from the students. I think he will slowly begin to change his ways, and even if it annoys me, it's good to start off from rock bottom--because the only way to go is up!

Also, the OP was very pretty, and I enjoyed the music in that, too. I hope more good things come out of this anime, I have high hopes for it. And it's the first anime I'm watching exclusively subbed in a while, because I know this is something that would probably never be dubbed. Can't wait for next week!

This was a lot better than I expected. I was prepared to drop this show after five minutes, but somehow it managed to charm me into keep watching it.

So there's like 4 idol type anime featuring the males....lets see, this one, B-Project, Hypnosis Mic, and Paradox Live (mostly)...
What is going on here? Its obvious proofs that male idol groups are vastly way more popular than female idols!

This premiere had a bit of everything, but certainly everything I hoped for!

First of all, I'm a big fan of the character designs. It's the same original designer as High Card and I'd say these characters are even better. They got wonderful expressions.

Otherwise, it sets up good backstories, with Danbocchi's fear of singing and Haruo apperantly messing up so bad he can't get a decent job in Japan anymore.

Haruo is also really funny! While I'm not a fan of the "forced to join" trope, it wasn't as bothering as in other shows because Haruo is a genius conductor through and through and it would be weird if he wouldn't be unintentionally rude and obsessed with music in every situation!
In terms of Comedy, the... uhm... Honeybadger? Skunk? Whatever Ratel is, is just the best. He'll probably become the main attraction of the show.

I also really liked how the boys enjoyed practice together. It's nice to have something everyone enjoys in the friend group.

Hopefully this show won't be ruined by an oversized cast in the future, but with the promising start, I'm not really concerned.

I guess after Ayaka's failure last season, I found myself a low-population pretty boy show to defend again...

Okay, I didn't know this anime was a musical before I started watching it.
So I was surprised, but I confess that I found the teacher and the way he treats the students very funny.

Showcasing Yuki Kanesaka's diverse composition/composer skills, he did every song I believe and pulled in some rappers too.

On the Set was my favorite song but also I loved their dance moves still wonder if it will be traditional choir or more performative glee etc type content.

Skateboard pretty boy is best boy.

Really surprised they got Yuki Kanesaka for this, he like is Asst Professor of Berklee here in Boston...

Just want to mention, a lot of the singing techniques discussed in this episode are ones used in real life with singers, so if you want to try those techniques out go ahead!

It's not what I expected but it's not bad at all. I like the songs especially the opening and the last song where they dance. Sensei recruited them in a crazy way lol but I thought it was cute. I might be the same with those girls but yup, I also like the skateboard boy hahaha.

Right from its opening moments this has a rough start... idol singing is a thing specific to Japan yes but here they make the very BOLD decision to open with songs sung in... ENGRISH

And hoooo boy does it sound bad. I would totally get the point if this was showing a choir struggling to figure out how to get better, that would show growth by the end with them singing better, but knowing how anime is produced I'm absolutely certain the producers thought this sounded fine, and the singers they found were the best they could afford. Which doesn't bode well for the entire production.

But the music wasn't even the most annoying thing about this, it was a certain character named Haruo that made me cringe. That guy is so fucking annoying I could barely get through the episode, and he really hams it up with his exaggerated way of talking. Seriously I'm supposed to get behind a show with a dude that goes propositioning boys on a school campus and cornering them in a pastry shop? And I still don't know WHAT was with that scene where the women whip the bathroom door open and chick be like "What are you doing!" when they're IN THE SHOWER. Uh, showering? She's all blushing like why are these dudes naked in the shower. That made no sense.
Nevertheless I have to say this is the second show this season that has come out early with nude scenes of the star MALE characters, that at least makes me happy hehehehe
Tenshi is very cute, but he's also kind of too archetypal. Of course pretty quickly they show some of the other guys who tick all the boxes- there's the cute and shy one (Tenshi), the strong one, the nerdy one, etc... then that kind of rap song at the end where those guys playing basketball were watching so intently... I thought, wouldn't they be laughing in RL? I mean it's nice seeing people respect each other- but just like with the singing, I'm pretty sure that was unintentional. This is 3/5 at best.

There is a point where the decision not to hire a consultant for English pronunciation is incompetent and irresponsible, and this has passed it.

I found this episode to be rather enjoyable! Usually I wouldn't like characters who can't read the room or are super pushy like Haruo, but in this case, it was quite funny imo. Surprised all three boys just went along with it in the end, and they actually performed something presentable all by themselves.

Not sure if I'll continue to enjoy it, but I thought it was a fun a start :)

this show starts out with the worst rendition of Sweet Chariot I've ever heard in my life. it also immediately blasts you with some ugly wack-ass animation. 0/10, turned it off after 3 minutes that I played at 4x speed
also, as a former choir kid, no one does it cuz they're passionate at singing. we did it cuz you get to go on cool trips ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, there's a lot weird with this anime, but I was entertained nonetheless.
First off, that honey badger-- they're all on that honey badger like that thing can't just mess them up in a second. I did laugh when it screeched at the bus though. Accurate. Honey badger don't care. Like just from all the stuff I've learned about honey badgers, there's no way I'd even humor her having a honey badger. And to get me to catch it? Not my problem. Lives might be lost, but that is not my responsibility.

Second, yo the grandma put it so lightly. Like 'you lost your job because you lack communication skills'. Nah, you lost your job because you're touching people all the time, breaking people's bubbles of comfort and stuff. It seems like he's got more than social awkwardness. Man has a whole diagnosis and I don't think having him teach a group of school boys was the fix.;; The man had these kids chase after a honey badger. I think that says enough. He's not fit, bro.

Third, the shower scene. Hello? Even though the music teacher was averting her gaze like why were they just standing there-- why did they come in anyway if people were using the shower. And then the music teacher had the nerve to tell weirdo-McGee to put on some clothes. Like you're the ones who came in on individuals who are washing themselves after being ass sprayed by the president/principal's own honey badger-- apparently it's an awful smell, btw. She takes no responsibility or anything. She just stares at them showering. The whole family is weird, bruh.

Still, it set the tone. Definitely not supposed to be taken 100% seriously, so I'm letting a lot slide. If it was taking itself seriously then sure, I'd dock it some points, but if they don't care then I don't care... kinda. Well, I had fun overall. I look forward to later episodes. One more thing... ouch, that Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.;; I wonder if they truly understand the meaning of the song because... it sounded kinda empty. Kinda hard when singing in another language though. But yeah, still a fun time.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

the op already hooked me. i'd actually want to try singing it. it's such a nice song.

so, a choir boy anime.
hibiki is annoying as hell and is on the edge of being insufferable. i don't have much of an opinion on him yet. but i liked the episode. it was nice to see them having fun with the situation instead of complaining. idk, maybe i don't expect teenagers to be that easygoing. they seem to be a good group of friends. i'm gonna give it a try. three episodes and maybe i'll drop it.

what the hell am i doing with my life? i've already picked up too many shows to watch this season...
