At some point, Lu Guang mentions that
This makes sense but I was wondering, if that happens, will Cheng Xiaoshi be stuck in the past in the person's body he entered? Will he completely cease to exist?

Basically my question is: what would be the fate of Cheng Xiaoshi in this scenario?

Well, I guess he'll be forcibly thrown back to the present, just like in episode 5 or 9 when his power is interrupted by another esper.

in Ep6,Lü Guang's line caught my attention: "If the photo is gone, the future we're in right now won't exist either." This setup hasn't been mentioned before and could likely become a key plot point in the second season.

Logically, if you tear the photo in the past, Tian chen can't send the photo, and Xiao Shi can't enter the photo, creating a time paradox. It makes sense, right? The question is, how did Lü Guang know that "the future we're in right now won't exist either" would happen? There's only one answer; he has already experienced a situation where "the future he was in ceased to exist."

In other words, in Lü Guang's future, Xiao Shi died due to an event. Lü Guang wanted to go back in time through the photo, but he found that death is an impassable time point; no matter what, the outcome wouldn't change. At this point, the only solution he thought of was tearing the photo to leave Xiao Shi in the past! Using the time paradox to erase what had already happened, making the future non-existent, and trying to change Xiao Shi’s "inevitable" fate.

This idea may sound far-fetched, but it's not entirely implausible. According to the Observer Theory, life and death depend on the observer themselves. If the observer ceases to exist, the previously perceived destiny of life and death also ceases to exist. Lü Guang is using this mechanism, attempting to deceive the world and cross that insurmountable time point.

this feels so spot on, if this were the case it would be one of the best plot twist. I kinda hope this is somehow incorporated into the series. I'd love to explore that idea and how tragic the abilities actually are and how you can't escape death but instead all you can do is stare it in the face until it comes to claim you. this series is honestly so good and I can't even imagine how it will eventually go plot wise. I hope it becomes more popular.

@wangsimian This actually sounds very real. Did you notice at the beggining of the 1st episode of S2 that while Lu Guang was "dying" he saw some blurry hallucinations or memories, in which Xiaoshi was the one dying in his arms. And then he thought (now seeing the real world and not memories) "It seems the death is inevitable afterall" or something like that.
I always thought about the meaning of this scene. Why would they put it there if it has no meaning at all. I was speculating as well that in Lu Gunag's timeline Xiaoshi dies and so Lu Guan somehow goes back to past/different timeline to save him.

Also thanks to your comment I thought of another thing. What if Xiaoshi's parents disappearance is somehow connected to this? For example at some point Xiaoshi dies and so the parents move away. But then Lu Guang destroys the photo/enters different timeline/past and like that brings Xiaoshi back to life. Because the future where he died never happened. But dor some reason the parents are stil lgone - they moved away. I still don't know how to fully explain this but I just thought it could be connected.

Edit: So I rewatched the scene in 1st ep. Lu Guang is "dying" and he sees Xiaoshi dying in his arm (a memory ig). The it goes back to the real world where he sees Xiaoshi and Ling (they look like cut out from papr or sometihng, very unnatural, but could be just an artistic choice) - then he says: "It seems everything is changing. If death cannot be avoided, then it might be better to face it now."
So to me it looks like he tried to change the past but more than once. But somebody always dies so he's about to give up trying.

@wangsimian @Mareep-chan dude these theories are insane because there's such a large chance that they're true.

@Mareep-chan I'm not sure about the take on the parents BUT I definitely agree with the part where you mentioned what Lu Guang said in episode 1. I completely forgot that happened but I highly doubt they'd put that scene in and then never revisit it. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I just know the final episode's cliffhanger (because of course it will end on a cliffhanger lol) will have me on the floor searching for crumbs of just a little more 😭

@Mareep-chan In theory, Tian Xi's ability can only observe, not acquire the target's pain. (Otherwise, Liu Min's final actions would lead to her suffocation.) So, at the police station, when she observed Lu Guang crying, it might not have been because Tian Chen was cleaning his wounds, but because she saw Lu Guang's tragic past...

@kay84 Yup, I'm not sure about the parents theory too. I just remembered it was a thing in 1S and it's still a mystery what happened to them. I also don't really believe in that theory but thought it could be connected to the destroying photos/different timelines/destroying future thing somehow. Unfotunately couldn't think of anything better for now lol. I hope they actually didn't forget about his parents and we're gonna get some answers one day lol.

Yeah I think that scene in the 1st ep had a meaning! Sometimes they put important stuff in the first minutes of first ep of a show so you forget it happened and then surprise you at the end with some mindblowing fact connected to it, so I think this could be (hopefully) the case too!

@wangsimian Wow that makes so much sense. I never thought of this. But really who is Lu Guang? I've been wondering since 1S. He's way too suspicious. He appears out of nowhere as if he knew the future or something, and he makes friends with Xiaoshi, and then everything gets fucked up.
