I’ve watched the previous season + all the movies several months ago, and now I’m watching this second season, so I think I might’ve ended up forgetting some important details. Also, pardon my spellings of the characters’ names, for I’m watching the series in Japanese with subs, relying on English only at times when I’m at loss with what they’re saying (well, that’s sentence mining).

So, in this season a large portion of the story revolves around Mitty, who was obliterated (literally vaporized) by Leg, using his lazer bean, in the end of the first season, because Nanachi asked him to put Mitty out of her misery. But when did she get reincarnated and how come that she appeared on the 6th layer (bypassing the 5th)? I’m pretty sure it was explained somewhere earlier, but I probably just missed it because of my negligence.

Mitty wasn't reborn.Think of her being more like an illusion/copy in the 6th layer. It's all Bondrewds doing. Essentially, he gave Belaf a copy of mitty. That's just a rough way of putting it. Definitely go back and watch it.

Bondrewd has visited the Sixth Layer several times thanks to his "Blessing Research" and has sometimes brought Mitty with him.
Belaf wished to have her because of her "immortality", but Bondrewd always refused any negotiation proposed.

So, Belaf chose to "create himself" Mitty within the Village, sacrificing parts of his body to convert them into Value: with the "convertion" of this Value he obtained a perfect copy of Mitty.
Therefore "Pot Mitty" is a "fake".

that's my biggest issue with this season. it feels like the mangaka didn't know what he wanted to do with Nanachi after her arc in season 1, so he was just like "ehhh bring Mitty back and do the same thing again"

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. That makes sense know. For some reason I thought that the Abyss has the capability to revive the dead in a different form, since the characters were sometimes saying that they might be able to meet the deceased ones, if they the manage to make to the lower layers or the bottom of the pit or something like that. Well, you know, it's that typical "reincarnation" motif: when the soul leaves one body (which results in death) and transfers to a different body after some time. I thought that it may have had something to do with that.

ya, but you gotta think not much was going on with the trio(reg is somewhat of an exception) in general. It was more about faputas origin story and such. so hopefully, he will expand on her more in the future.

I also believe her character is supposed to be more of a guide for Riko and Reg. I heard she was supposed to die with Bondrewd in the last arc as well. so it would make sense if he doesn't have much for her atm. Hopefully, she gets a new plot point, and mitty is more of a long-term goal.
