As charming and adorable as the art is, this romance is oddly flat.
Each in their own unique way, the two protagonists feel incredibly awkward. The flow of the story and the protagonists interacting themselves isn't smooth either.

Somehow, with how unpredictable they are, they come off as far too unrealistic to truly enjoy.

Aside from the flaws of the meaningless "friends" as supporting characters.
One rich lesbian friend from the heroine, the other a snob fashionist, and the male protagonist's male friend barely having any screentime and being useless... along with his teasing older sister.

Everyone's personality is bizarre.
Particularly the two protagonists but especially Kureha Suwa.

She first met Suguru Yamanaka when they bumped their heads into each other and protected her from a creepy man who "was asking for directions", who got stopped by a cop nearby when Yamaka called for him.
Anyway. She had a boyish haircut, and since meeting again at the same elementary school, he never recognized her, so on the first day of school, to "make an impact" she confesses to him, pretending she doesn't know him, which he still doesn't remember in the finale, but they now truly love each other.

That in itself is odd already, but what's worse is how it's difficult to sympathize with her character.
Through hard work, she's great in her education, along with sports, so everyone thinks she's a genius, and to not disappoint them, she acts like the perfect person.

Yet, with how childish Yamanaka is, he's the first person to make her feel comfortable in being herself.
Even though she was slightly reserved, lying and joking until we see how terrified she was, sobbing on the phone when talking to her mother.
It's just odd how inconsistent she is. Again, they're unpredictable and very difficult to comprehend as people.

Because, even though she has the maturity to judge people and act fake from her big brother as a role model,
for the most part she is very confident, nonchalant, and enjoys teasing Yamanaka.
In rare times, yet unexpected or unpredictably, she gets jealous or embarrassed, or hides her feelings which is confusing because throughout the story, we know to some extent, yet wonder how much is she acting fake.

She obviously likes him. Enjoys being with him, but gets flustered when he becomes serious and falls in love with her himself through dating each other...
Except, she's so nonchalant that even though she arguably loved him since the start, because she's pretending to not know him and is taken aback at times when he's bold or moreso when he confesses... it's fucking weird and confusing when she runs away from his confession.

They're kids. Extremely awkward and weird in their own unique way,
but I think it's incredibly unstructured and unrealistic in the way it's portrayed.

Yamanaka's character himself is inconsistent for how unpredictable he is as well and how unsmoothly the plot progresses.
Inexperienced, he's very nervous throughout most of the story, gets flustered often and slowly learns feelings of love, but his thought process is oddly too chaotic.

I think from how unpredictable the plots are from common tropes leading to drama or further progress, the story felt weirder.
Regardless... as cute as it is. It's too awkward and underdeveloped with many flaws. 3/10.

It was like bubblegum. Sweet enough but no real depth. Certain plot aspects were lifted from Saotome Senshu, Hitakakusu. I liked the twist of the girl knowing him from years ago but nothing was done with that. There was no moment of recall or any point to any of it.

The supporting characters were... there. That's about all you can say.

It was at least only 3 volumes.
