Nice first episode! I added this series to my list since it's based on a manga by Koyama Yu, same guy who's responsible for my second favorite boxing anime of all time, Ganbare Genki. Immediately, his distinct artstyle is here in full force, and seeing it being animated by a studio other than Toei is strange, but it's decently done. OP is good enough, and the ED is eh, neither are certified classics like the OP/ED from Ganbare Genki. MC is a big 'ol crybaby, but he's also 6 years old in this episode, so it's not like it's that unexpected. So far, I really like what I see, and I think I'll watch this the whole way through. |

| The fact that this has an english title "Rainbow Samurai" by an American part of a Japanese company makes me think this series was supposed to be released stateside but it never happened for some reasons https://web.archive.org/web/20010306040413/http://www.enokifilmsusa.com/library/rainsam.htm Too bad, I wonder how much of the manga will be covered |
