Well I don't think there will be anyone who "completely" understood the movies and those complex endings due to Virtual Reality, quantum physics and stuff |

(kimi ai) is practically the prequel to (boku ai) if you want a specific link between the two movies. each movie has a scene towards the end showcasing the other movie's content to give you a better understanding of the relation between the two worlds. you said you were particularly confused with the letter scene in (boku ai). that scene was just summarizing (kimi ai)'s content for the protagonist. I too am somewhat lost as to for what reason, since he has no memory of those events and doesn't really need any imo. so to summarize everything: in (kimi ai), the protagonist came up with a plan to reset the timeline of (boku ai)'s world, because it was the only world (that he knows of) where he and Shiori never met. then he chose the time when he's almost dead to shift to a parallel world and kill himself. doing so will allow him to be lost in the space-time continuum with Shiori. the only thing left to do is for someone to get prepare things in (boku ai)'s world. and Kazune was the only person that could do that (it was also because of her ulterior motives to have a life together with the protagonist). while it was not explained how she kept her memories or when she got them back in (boku ai)'s world, but she apparently did get them sometime before their highschool entrance ceremony. she prepared things to advance the plan and to keep protagonist from ever meeting Shiori, and had her happy life marrying the one she loves (the less reliable version of him precisely). the world of (boku ai) was clearly more advanced than that of (kimi ai), mainly because of Kazune's contribution. and after a long life, protagonist was put into a coma because his soul got stuck in the space-time continuum. now, nothing was explained as to how he and Shiori were set free, but for some reason or another, they were set back to their bodies. after the protagonist woke up, he realized that he had an ip adress that was left unchecked (it has something to do with his job apparently), he got a glimpse of Shiori's ghost which was set back to her time line, and he met the version of her that resides in (boku ai)'s world (she helped with his meds). it was certainly a confusing encounter. well, all in all, the movie definitely left a lot of unexplained events, but that was necessary to keep the movies short and enjoyable at the very least. |

Potatoboy11 said: uh I think you missed some stuff there weren’t that many loose ends in the movies. The koyomi (red cover world) one transports his consciousness basically into 7 year old koyomi (blue cover world). Because shiori (red cover) is entangled with him, she is transported into the shiori in blue cover world. They both don’t have memories of the red cover world events but effectively are two consciousness in one. That’s how koyomi (red cover) gives shiori the “life she never had” even at the cost of their memories, and why the body of red cover koyomi goes brain dead, his consciousness is effectively gone to a different body. They are never lost in the space time continuum_KET said: Potatoboy11 said: what did you not understand? i watched this one first, but things were quite comprehendable for me. ok, this turned out to be a lot longer than i expected. just try to bear with it. these two movies are about one person in 2 parallel worlds. the first one (boku ai) is about a kid who was influenced by the girl he likes into becoming a more reliable person like the parallel version of him that she liked; the other (kimi ai) is about a kid who lost his lover in an accident that caused her to become a ghost lost in space-time continuum. Potatoboy11 said: Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kazune from KimiAi "optional shift" to BokuAi's world? We also see that it was KimiAi's Kazune who made that Showa-dori meeting entry into Koyomi's IP of BokuAi. That means she didn't retain her memory from a different world but instead she informed herself of how the world of BokuAi was created because of how much KimiAi's Koyomi loved Shiori. Also, it seems like Koyomi did actually save Kazune from a dog which we see in KimiAi and which means she parallel shifted before meeting Koyomi in BokuAi_KET said: Potatoboy11 said: what did you not understand? i watched this one first, but things were quite comprehendable for me. ok, this turned out to be a lot longer than i expected. just try to bear with it. these two movies are about one person in 2 parallel worlds. the first one (boku ai) is about a kid who was influenced by the girl he likes into becoming a more reliable person like the parallel version of him that she liked; the other (kimi ai) is about a kid who lost his lover in an accident that caused her to become a ghost lost in space-time continuum. About the opening scene of BokuAi where this world's Koyomi meets with the ghost of Shiori, I think it took place because Koyomi of KimiAi's imaginality was inside of BokuAi's Koyomi and because their imaginality (KimiAi's Koyomi and Shiori) were entangled, he was able to see her ghost in the intersection to keep their promise (that ghost is the imaginality of Shiori from KimiAi). And when BokuAi's Koyomi meets BokuAi's Shiori, I think it was just a fated encounter and nothing else. KimiAi's Shiori did mention that she wanted to help Koyomi and say that line of hers which was fulfilled by her counterpart in BokuAi. One more thing, in KimiAi when the whole idea was proposed by Koyomi, Kazune is upset that if Koyomi never meets Shiori then he would never truly be happy in his life which turns out wasn't the case as we find out in BokuAi where he says he must have been really happy in his life to take joy in a stranger's happiness. And I don't think Kazune had to do anything to keep Koyomi and Shiori from meeting each other because that the entire purpose of the BokuAi's world. Also, I don't believe Kazune had any ulterior motive otherwise she wouldn't have optional shifted to make Koyomi and Kazune's promise come true. I don't think this leaves much loose ends and is able to explain itself (more or less). And title of both the movie makes a lot of sense once you get it. |
