Anyone rewatched the first season lately? How does it compare?

So, I'm not really clicking with season 2.

All of the reviews that are up seem to be saying "the show was always bad, we all just got more sophisticated with age". I'm not entirely sure about that take. I feel like the first season was less of a blobby amorphous mess than this season. I think the first season had a clear sequence of events and continuity whereas in this season it's like Touya is just trying to kill time.

I'm not prepared to watch the first season for a fourth time so I'm hoping to enlist someone who's watch season 1 and 2 in sequence to confirm my theory.

Do you think season 2 feels at all different to the first? In what ways?

EDIT: It seems I watched the dub for the first season. Maybe that explains this incongruity.

season 2 has slightly more detailed animation and the dub dialogues sound different from season 1 (probably new voice actor for dub)

I watched 1st season a month before the 2nd. And there are same, feels like an avarage harem isekai without ecchi, so like a bullshit but funny

I rewatched the first season not too long ago and I would say both seasons feel really similar to me so far.

Art is indeed a little better, but besides that the show is still an harem isekai revolving about the very op mc and his slow life surrounded by beauties, occasionaly troubled by some action and drama.

I think this show has always been a little bit more focused on the slow life side

than the action/drama one, hence this feeling of an "episodic" structure sometimes .

1) it's not worse or better, considering that most people hate this anime, if they're watching season 2 they WILL feal it's worse because they already hate the series, they're basically hate watching it

2) anyway the series isn't even bad the people who hate it for dumb reasons unironically like overlord, slime, no game no life and other isekai that have the exact same flaws

I binged the 15 episodes you can watch so far yesterday. I dont feel like there was much of a change apart from the improved art style from season 1 to season 2. Imo it wasnt especially good in the first place, but it was just what I asked for, when I started the anime. Something I can enjoy and turn my brain off to while watching it.

I just rewatched season one before this began airing and really enjoyed it, so I can say I don’t agree with the “we just got more sophisticated with age” argument. This season doesn’t feel like it has that same energy yet, but I know they’ll be introducing more girls which I think will break it out of the holding pattern and start feeling fresh with new story directions. With that all said though, I did actually enjoy this week’s episode a lot. Slice of life fantasy stuff is fun when done in moderation

I also watched the dub for first season, the dub for second season just started.

The second season continues right from the where the first season left off.

It feels the same as the first season, although I think with a little more “fan service” in these early episodes.

This anime is calm, cute, humorous, enjoyable, with a mix of relationships and adventure.

It doesn’t have a lot of action and or complex story.

I really enjoyed the first season and I’m still watching second season to know what I think.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This anime is one of those average cliche harem isekai, that is like comfy food for some people, even if they know its not really great they still watch it as a comfort anime.

So far the only improvement i have noticed is that art style became better, the story is still as average as before and the plot seems a bit slow compared to the last season

But, i think its too early too get on the conclusion that this season is worse than the last one as there are not many episodes released for this season yet, so i would personally judge if this season is worse than the last one or not after atleast 5 episodes but so far it neither exceeds my expectations nor it does drop it down

I don't have much time right now, so I'll put in a few of my thoughts.

it feels more or less the same. I got really bored watching S1 (I don't know how I finished it). it's honestly still the cliche harem Isekai it started off being. I don't even remember what happened in S1, despite binging it so that I can watch S2.

I'm watching it for the first time and enjoying it just fine. Don't know what all the hate is about. I'm not big on isekai but this one is enjoyable.
