Reminds me of James Bond, in a good way.

Interesting start, looks like im going to adore Chiko soon. She just reminded me of Kino somehow.

Surprisingly i think i understood most of the dialogue, in any case im looking forward to subs XP.

edit: Oh yeah Hirano Aya voices Chiko, amazing performance as usual.

I thought it was pretty good. "Nijuu Mensou" himself reminded me of Roger from The Big O actually. Haha.

It definitely had an old school espionage/detective kinda vibe to it, which is cool to see. Especially with the whole chase sequence and the classic "hanging ladder from hovering aircraft" escape.

Yeah, Aya did a great job with Chiko. It was a bit of a different role than I've seen her play so I'm glad to hear that she changed up her voice a little to fit the part. Great performance.

I'm looking forward to the introduction of the other characters we see in the OP and ED as well as seeing how this plot will develops. Another enjoyable first episode. This season is turning out to be better than I expected.

Me too. XD

I liked this first episode. A lot. This series reminds me a lot of these goold old anime...
And I was surprised that Aya Hirano is the voice of Chizuko, because I didn't even notice it until the last part of the episode.

I liked the first episode.. at last, something more or less original again.. at least in the world of anime. Hirano Aya seems to be the perfect choice as a Seiyuu for Chizuko.

That was very nice. Another anime with a historical setting, heh. Aya-sama was great and the OP animation looked so primising that I'm very much looking forward to the next episodes. The 'beginning' of this seemed a bit easy but that didn't bother me too much.

So, I enjoyed this episode and I'm curious about what's going to happen and why Twenty Faces bothered saving this particular little girl and all... but was it just me or did not much actually happen? Like, a surprisingly small amount of information was given, kind of. Which is fine as long as the whole series isn't paced that way. Anyway, I'm looking forward to finding out what is going on. =)

I kinda of liked this. Nothing too bad but nothing super great either, but it was pretty interesting. And I knew there was something shifty about her 'parents' >.> I'm liking the OP/ED and I already can't wait for the OST to come out =D

Now that was neat. A change of pace, with all the detective shows, now we have a thief show! Definite flashbacks to DNAngel too, and that's not a bad thing. I still wonder what tricks Twenty Faces has up his sleeves - walking on thin air? Say what? I didn't expect such a twist about her "parents" and Kawai being Twenty Faces, now that was cool. Will definitely keep on watching.

And like Iriya said, can't wait for the OST to come out :D

Finally got a chance to start this. It's a good start; Chiko (and I already knew that Aya Hirano was doing her voice weeks before this started) was a lot different than I expected. Entertaining second half, with the chase and escape scene.

The plot was REALLY predictable...

I mean, a thief that announces his plans to steal a precious treasure, how many times have I seen that before? And a rich girl who has been taken in by her aunt and uncle and is being slowly poisoned to steal her fortune... it's so cliche that it kind of makes me doubt the writer's ability.

And seriously, missiles launched from the hip? Give me a break.

I was expecting better than this, hope it improves in the next few episodes.

Hum... You know, this is an adaptation from a novel some Japanese Edgar Allan Poe wrote 70 years ago : it's predictable, but not necessarily bad. I'd say it's an oldie with today's digital animation.
Seriously, people should put themselves in context when watching an anime. I heard people complaining about Soul Eater being "an obvious ripoff of D.Gray-man", while the former is a year younger than the latter ; I heard people complaining about Itazura na Kiss being a lifeless "Fruits Basket x Marmalade Boy" ; I even heard people complaining about Toward the Terra being a poor man's Gundam Seed, for Christ's sake !
They are neither plants nor animals.
They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as Mushi. Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them.

Huh, that's interesting about that Japanese author.

However, the factoid at the bottom says that the manga by clamp was only based off Nijuu Mensou, the character that that guy created - I'm guessing that means that the insipid plot was a creation of the newer authors, who merely copied and pasted that character from the old guy's work.

Even though I was disappointed, I still think it has potential. I really like Chizuko's character.

i was waiting for this show to be subbed even before it aired..
when the ep started, i was waiting for chiko to say somthing to know how aya will voice for this charecter.. when she talked from behind the door, i couldn't hear it well.. Ahh.. and then she talked.. it was diffrent.. and i love it..

now about the anime.. i like this kind of storys.. so i'm going to stick with this anime for sure.. hope Live Evil do a faster jop with this one.. this is the third anime i'm watching from this group.. and nothing is moving as expectid with the sub =_=

As far as I know, it's called Kaito.. A thief that announces his plans to steal a treasure. It actually became quite popular and some people considered "sub-genre". A lot of japanese mystery novels, manga, etc has Kaito theme in it, e.g. Conan's Kaito Kid.

But I never actually predicted that those people are the girl's aunt and uncle, and that her parents died. I thought she was just a spoiled rich girl who is bored of life...

lol I thought it was based on Shinji Ohara's manga... =P But it looks like Shinji Ohara's manga was based on Rampo Edogaw's novel...

EITHER WAY, I agree, its still fun to watch.

Unfortunately, Kawai is not kawai. XD lol

It was really great. Oldschool animation style, typical BGM from old movies, unrealistic, yet funny setup. The whole show reminds me of old movies, which is a refreshing thing.

One of the BGM really sounded like the james bond theme at the start. (14:20)

Yes, it's unrealitsic, but who cares. It seems this is not meant to be realistic. So it's ok, then.

But an 11 year old girl? I doubt you can do such thief tricks at that age, so I hope she gets much older in the next episodes.

in the OP, she looks different than she does in the first ep, so i think we're going to see a time skip of some sort before the thief stuff begins lol
the soundtrack is great XD swing style music during the car chase hahaha
