Obviously the core themes and messages stand out to me and probably to most people. I would also argue that from a technical level this show is basically flawless, writing is tight, the narrative structure is ambitious and it's endlessly creative. Personally I think the quality is most impressive but the messages are still fantastic.

the message is what i most like, it made me see life in a different way, that's the purpose of the show, oh and the art is beautiful.

The main message, the intricate storytelling, the way the characters are all fleshed out, and art/character designs

As everyone said, the themes and message of the show. But apart from that, there is still so much to like. It's one of it's kind, has unique direction and greatly likeable characters despite their flaws and quirks. I really enjoyed how witty it was with immaculate dialogues that's hard to find in anime these days.

ngl almost everything lol it was my first masaaki yuasa's directed anime,i went in thinking the characters kinda looked weird but came out being in awe of the entire anime,the only nitpick i had was the mc speaking way too fast and me having to slow it down to even be able to comprehend it 😭

It's message and how watashi eventually ended up apperceitive to the life has, realizing the people all around him were actually really nice and cared about him, leading him to realize that he was 'Ozu' the entire time. He was the one ruining his lives. When he finally comes to realize this, he has one of my favorite anime endings ever, and he is also very relatable. There is nothing rose-colored in this world, as Higuchi said.

His monologs were written greatly though so it was worth it
