Disc: Obviously this show is not reflective of irl situations and people, I know this show is not like real life so I get that

I am curious in how such a situation would arise in real life and how one would deal with it? For me I've never seen this in my high school 14-17 where one is constantly living in AND acting out an imaginary world at such an age. So... how would you deal with it if you were a friend, teacher, family member or onlooker? What course of action would you take - simply embrace it and go along with it thinking it's just a phase? Or would you refer them to someone if this is something that has lasted a while? (special needs perhaps?)

Not the biggest fan but was able to watch this series in full. The cynic in me really just wanted her to fix up...

I mean I daydream most of the time and have most of my life wondering how it would be like in a better life so technically I've always in my mind been living in a imaginary world especially before bed they started. so a while ago like 8 or 10 years ago. they started happening

I'd like to live in a delusion like in the anime and stuff like that but that would most likely get me referred to a therapist soon enough and I feel like it would be cringe to do that IRL

i guess it depends on how long and how intense this phase is i dont think it is wrong to daydream or even be mentally in a different world every now and then kids do that all the time so its only natural this will carry over into teenagehood as well
adulthood will give you a reality check sooner or later if you want it or not
if that is a constant issue tho you might wanna get some help and try to teach them to separate the imaginative and the real world and to embrace both

i think this is much more relevant to japanese society. This is an exaggerated portrayal of a real phenomenon seen in Japanese kids from a certain age group. It has been represented in their media many times, some more realistic than others. But it is not something to worry about. It is just a phase.

Well such kind of kids actually exist everywhere who like to imagine themselves as a fantasy hero but it is nothing weird if that same thing exists even in the adults, for example I would definitely like to try to live in a fantasy if it was possible and therefore the best course of action in this sort of situation is to make sure that they are still connected with the realism and know what it means to be normal in real life, they should be aware of what are their actual limits & capacity so that they can't get immerse in their fake fantasies

Also your first statement is actually contradictory in my opinion, this show is not reflective of IRL can be true in the case of those imaginary battles they have in their minds, however as I said earlier, there are some kids/ teens who actually have such kind of thinking

this is pretty normal irl not the anime parts of this but the chunibyo thing it's having an active imagination and when you get older a way of coping if you watch the show you'll realize that rikka isn't that unbelievable besides for the stuff that only happens in anime

when I was in middle school I often day dreamed about being a secret agent and saving the school from a terrorist attack.

when I was younger then that I would run around the neighborhood plaing pretend whatever with my friends.

what seperates Rikka from all that is that she is running away from reality due to fhe pain of losing her father and basically her whole support system as they don't have the time to help her through her grief.

I've also never have seen anything like that in real life before & I don't know anyone that's like that. I'd probably just try to help them out however I could.

They are having fun and enjoy themselves.

Who are you to tell them what is proper and what is not?
