I just wanted some input on the thought that the Great Crater of Paldea from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet basically is the Abyss...

Both from a technological and a primeval point.

What do you think or are there even any official statements?

It's just an abyss. Many franchises have craters and abyss-like places. It would be exactly the same if there was certain illnesses or diseases caused by the abyss like MIA.
As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

I am also 100% sure that MiA stole from the spongebob squarepants movie, since it too had a massive rift in the ground with a bunch of monsters in it.

MiA had pickaxes. I’m fairly certain they “stole” that from Minecraft.

How irredeemable.

Thank you for your input, can you tell me which franchises use Abysses? I am just curios :)

SpongeBob, Adventure Time, One Piece, Rick and Morty are just some I can think off the top of my head. Made In Abyss is vastly different tho as the abyss seems endless and we don't know where it ends. In Pokemon you actually do see the bottom and its not as far down as MIA at all.

Didnt know MiA literally had a time machine and a system created by a mad scientist to bring paradoxical creatures into the present.

With that attitude you can say that MiA plagiarised Alighieri's Divine Comedy (the Hell depicted as an immense abyss consisting of several concentric strata) or any fantasy setting using the idea of hollow Earth like Septerra Core. The second one is a bit of an overkill, since the entire planet consists of 7 layers of continents orbiting a bio-organic computer. However, Septerra perfectly covers the "technological and a primeval point." part the OP brought, because the game covers both the primordial past and the already mentioned clearly technology based heart of the planet. The idea of the inhabitable abyss, in various shapes and forms, down below has been out there since ancient times.

Thank you :) I watched (except OP, I read the Manga) and did not want to say that Pokémon steal from MiA. That is why I used the quotation marks. I just wanted some opinions on that thought because I know there are a lot of Abysses but in recent pop culture MiA was the last big known Abyss. In addition to that MiA is from japan like Pokémon and it was maybe more visible than idk old literature or Adventure Time :D
Thank you very much :)

Thank you very much for your thoughts :)
I do not have "that attitude", that's why I used quotation marks :D
As already mentioned in my answer to EggoGBones, I just wanted some input that's all :)
Funny, I actually read Dantes Inferno and all those Abysses were another reason to ask that question and see what the users will answer :D
So thank you, a great answer :)

A bit of my native language sipped through with the "that attitude" part, closer to what I meant will be "intention".
I'm glad you found something of interest in my reply :)
