| this definitely shouldn't have the ridiculous name it has now, it's known as Lookism everywhere including Japan. Even the Webtoon/Manga entry is listed/named correctly so I have no idea why the anime is called this. Naming decisions of MAL are often annoying as hell, not the first time I've been watching something and they change the name from what everyone knows the series as to some lesser known translation of the name. They'd probably try and back up their naming decisions with some inane reasoning, but when a series is widely known in all territories by one name then that's what it should be listed under on MAL. We already know they're inconsistent as hell when it comes to naming, case in point the most popular anime on this site (and hence maybe why it's untouchable?) is actually known as something else in it's country of origin. FMA/ Hagane no Renkinjutsushi. the other anime I had this problem with was To Be Heroine being changed to Tu Bian Xing Zhong Leaf or w/e it is now (something along those lines). Everything I see about this series to this day (including all official channels) refers to this series as To Be Heroine, it was even correctly listed on this site as such for a while before they decided to change it. To Be Hero is still To Be Hero (or at least it was) and there is now a third confirmed follow up with a similar naming convention, so how the hell do you explain/justify the name and having it listed as this on MAL? tldr; this series should be correctly listed/named as Lookism and To Be Heroine should be fixed/changed too. |

| tbf I'm not that familiar with what it's most commonly known as in Korea, you sure it's this and not Lookism like everywhere else? A good fix would be if they add every known title for a series and you can then personalise it for your list by choosing what it's listed/displayed as in your list. I'm sure 90+% of MAL users would choose to have it displayed as Lookism tho, not what it currently is. |

We are predominantly an English speaking site, it doesn't make any sense to list this as the Korean name no one knows it as, as apposed to what it's called in all official marketing material. |

MAL was used to just put the most well known name in the US for the entries , but they slowly translate everything to their original names. Ghost In The Shell got translated to Koukaku Kidoutai a few years back , and Mobile Suit Gundam to Kidou Senshi Gundam a few months ago , for examples. I'll believe that when I see it. & If they did I wouldn't be happy with that change, and I'd hazard a guess neither would a significant portion of the userbase. Unless they implement something like mentioned above where an entry can be listed under multiple titles and users can specify which title to display on their lists/profiles. |

I'm talking about optional displays on peoples personal lists and profiles, so it says nothing about professionalism & consistency of the actual database. Of course people would want to display the title they know the series as, whether the database considers it the "official" title to use or not. Since it's entirely a QoL improvement utilising information already readily available in the database, there's no reason for MAL to "never do that". |
