Will Houseki no kuni ever get a season 2

I mean it was such a great anime, the art was so beautiful and story was bizzare but interesting. I haven't read the manga yet but I am gonna read it soon. It would be nice if this gets a season 2

Just finished book 8 today literally. Holy shit, vol 1-7 was amazing but vol 8 blew me the fuck away I cannot believe the direction it has gone but it is absolutely breathtaking and I’m soooo excited for vol 9

Chances are very low but never 0. I just started reading manga from the very beginning and i must say - while i dont really enjoy mangas and prefer LNs much much more, houseki no kuni is too good to simply not follow the story after finishing anime

I desperately want a season 2 and it angers me so much that those random generic isekais get another season after season, while series like these don't.

Well there are anime that came out strictly for advertising purposes (for the source material - whether that be a manga, light novel, visual novel, video game or whatever), and hnk is most likely one of them. Those anime very rarely get a second season, if any at all. I mean hnk manga has plenty of material to be adapted and they haven't announced anything yet. I'm aware that Orange is busy with Beastars s3 at the moment but they could at least make an announcement, since hnk would could potentially be a big money milker for the studio - unless they're planning to make a last-minute announcement to keep the public's attention fresh and for the longest time possible, but that's hardly the case.

Welp, for the moment we can only hope and wait for a s2.

Only SHAFT has the aptitude to adapt this Masterpiece

There is no other studio other than Madhouse and SHAFT and maybe WhiteFox who can adapt Seinen perfectly

They should also do Berserk and Tokyo Ghoul

I feel it's worth pointing out that Studio Orange aren't the ones to decide whether Houseki no Kuni get any more seasons because, as with most anime, the production committee makes the decision and gives the studio a set amount of money. Production committees are made up of a number of companies.

So there's not much point in only hassling Studio Orange for a season 2.

orange is almost done with beastars, and trigun is a shorter project.

and one of the producers was in the trash taste podcast, and said they will always try to do sequels when they can.

so, you can be hopeful.

I'm episode 11 the more I watch the sadder I feel I'm sure I'll love manga but this anime became an instant favorite

I also love the dub so reading the manga imagining their feels nice but sad as well

@aramis03 It's not up to the studio, the decision and hence the finances come from the Production Committee (most anime has such a beast) and that committee is made up of assorted entities.

The production committee for the first season of Land of the Lustrous consisted of:

Toho, Kodansha, A-TX, Q-Tec, MBS, BS11, Movic, Kyoraku and Tokyo MX

With the recent announcement of Leviathan, my hopes aren't high because it looks like a large project. Orange seems to be taking a direction grounded in more traditional seinen action projects over 'unconventional' genres like HnK. It saddens me since the anime was so acclaimed and revolutionary for what it was, but purely because of its appeal it remains niche. This lack of mainstream popularity (also from Blu-Ray sales, which determines a lot of the profitability of a show), the manga ending already past us and likely a higher budget means it's probably not happening anytime soon. If orange ever deigns to answer us tho I'd be ecstatic to here about a further continuation.
