What are your thoughts on Menma's parents and brother?

I always thought there was more potential with them as characters. I feel bad for the brother. The parents are borderline neglectful to him.

I feel like especially for the brother there was definitely potential for more of a character arc, considering the situation with her parents they could’ve like gotten better and actually started accepting her death more.

I felt that their characters were weird and off to the side of the story, but that actually worked. Since she died and was with the kids at the time, it only made sense for the family to distance themselves from them. It was like becoming familiar with things that the main character did. Notice when things were found out, the main character was always present to retain it. So yeah, he was distant from everyone, so their characters were distant to the audience. And because the family was weird and distant to the character, that made it the same occurrence for the audience
