Not really up to watching a lengthy TV show, but considering the movie due to interesting people participating on it...is it alright without the TV series? Like Gundam movies or the Goshogun movie (not the recap one)

truly stand alone. some minor plot points only explained in TV but almost all-new animated movie.

Thanks! I didn't regret it. Flashbacks especially seemed to imply more depth to character relationships obviously, but the movie was a good tragic piece regardless.

I just finished binging baldios in a few days and moved directly onto the movie right away and ill tell you as someone who watched the anime the movie is NOT canon AT ALL to the tv series. Whoever decided to make it tried recapping it at first then i assume they gave up and started mashing together random clips from the tv series together to make a whole new story. then around the 1 hour mark they just give up and take the scene from ep 18 and does a alternate route. mostly everything past that point is new footage made just for the movie except for a few + the david parts which also make no sense. Then around the end they like you said show lots of characters with mini flashbacks and expect you to feel sad but they dont even introduce the characters so the point is kinda lost there.

I say if you watch the movie think of it as a standalone AU. If you liked the idea of what you saw in it I suggest watching the original, The anime perfectly captures the sad demise of Marins new life. With every episode having a sad somber ending leading up to the end.

sorry if im just rambling at this point
