With all that being said though some people are telling me it’s canon and some are saying it’s not so I’m just wondering is it actually canon!?

Somewhere on the early news it was stated that it happened a few years after the Molo & Granolah Arcs , but still before the ending of Z.
No reason for it to not be Canon to Super. (Still makes no sense with the end of Z tho)

"The ten years of peace" the gang mention before meeting Oob has been destroyed. So if it's canon then it's heavily broken its own continuity.
Toriyama called Super a "casual continuation" of his manga in a recent interview that MasakoX covered. Also someone from V Jump mentioned that the Super manga and anime are separate continuities, so pick your poison.

Yeah i think it is because Gohan beast wouldn't appear just like that and never appear again, and so the movie made sense and respected the end of super.
