In retrospect, didn't make sense for Lena to be on the battlefield

But why is Lena, a commander-type, out in the fields without armor or in a vehicle or anything? It makes sense why Cyclops was concerned for her safety because she's important to their survival so her lack of safety awareness is kind of baffling.

Only after it was defeated did she leave the vehicle and run across to make sure the soldier survived.

They (Lena and the 86) obviously made sure before that there was no more legion around undertaker (the scene where the ameise appears is an addition, but it didn’t appear in the LN vol 3).

That said, there was the problem of the minefields: around the gran mur, many minefields were placed, in order to prevent the 86 from entering in the 85 districts of the republics, fleeing the battlefield. And during the large scale offensive, Lena ordered to remove the minefields (episode 16) but (I quote) : “even though the minefields on the path to the gran mur had been broken through, they were still a dangerous zone in terms of military safety standards, with only 80 percent of the mines removed”, that’s why, in part, cyclops told her to remains cautious (and obviously, the other part is that they don’t really see the federacy soldier as an ally (since the empire of giad was the republic’s enemy)), but Lena walked through the battlefield anyway, cuz she’s that reckless (just like shin btw).
