SxF is (intentionally) a mishmash of european cultures and decades. In russian Anya is not a full name, it's a common nickname for Anna. However in western germanic languages it is common for some name shortenings to become full names(Jonathan - Jon/John, Katherine - Kate), so I guess this might be a mixture of these factors. Also, as a japanese person, it sounds cuter to author because of "a-NYA"
