At least Togusa had the chance to try to beat up, who was torturing him in the implanted memory

Say that, shit hit the fan in this episode, would be an euphemism.

The sequence after the launch was beautiful.

That Togusa fight was intense and very Resident Evil-esque.

Insane episode. Surprised this thread isn't more active because of how crazy the story went in this one after a somewhat slow build up to this point. Still one more episode left so obviously I'm expecting things to reverse back to normal somehow, but this was kinda nuts.

Insane is an understatement.
Borma. Saitou. Ishikawa and Batou all died, nukes got launched, gas incoming killing millions of people ... fak.

@PrOxAnto Had this been the original GiTS series, I might have cared, but I struggle to take anything that happens in 2045 seriously.

Also, as it seems like they are bent on milking this, I very much doubt those characters are staying dead.
You all need to watch Nami.

I didn't like where the plot was going after about midway, but now I'm starting to actively hate it.
First of all, Aramaki's role has been reduced to being nothing but a paladin for the Prime Minister, never leaving his office.
Then there's the whole "American Empire" thing and nukes. I'm fucking sorry Kenji, but the American "empire" isn't a bunch of evil androids bent on destroying the world. The US Government would never entrust nuclear submarines to some sexbot, yeah I know you're pissed about Hiroshima and fair enough... but if you ask just one question about all the mass murder your country was responsible for that made dumb people like us think you'd never give up your world domination WITHOUT getting hit by a nuke, then maybe you'd feel differently. Or at least understand, what the fuck was up.

And then there's Takeshi, who seemed to have some personality and some reason for going nuts in the first season, and his tragic story was enough to convince anyone. But here- HE HASN'T SPOKEN A SINGLE WORD, is just some figure that moves around and stares at people, and that's not a good antagonist. It's so lazy, there's nothing convincing about him.
Unlike in 2nd Gig, where the "refugees" society on the islands outside Fukuoka had become slums for them and the guy who somehow coalesced their consciousness into a phenomenon that was able to be manipulated by a twisted government agent- here it is much less convincing. There's no connection to these refugees whatsoever, we've hardly seen any of them, and there's been no reason to care about their plight because it hasn't been shown to us. All we see is some pretty CGI models of some construction site. They all say "become an N" which I don't recall from 1984; and there's been no reason shown, no incentive for anyone to actually want to become one. All it seems to mean is just become a robot. A literal mindless drone. Fucking really?

Then there's the supposed inspiration for the whole thing- the book Nineteen Eighty Four by Orwell- well Kamiyama clearly hasn't read it, or understood it in any way.
Big Brother WAS NOT an inspiration for the people nor a leader of the oppressed masses. It was the term used for the communist leader whose name nobody actually knew, who was the leader of a horrible totalitarian state Oceania that was committing mass murder in its war against the other countries and its own citizens. Hehh.. sounds familiar eh Kenji? Oh never mind.
He was the evil, the enemy, that was the symbol of the horrors of totalitarianism.
Here you have this speechless kid being given the the name as an endearment, which is BACKWARDS. It makes no sense.
There's no reason for them to commit mass-self-deletion by launching missiles (against whom, against where?)
It's just a typical overblown plot by Kamiyama and it's too fucking contrived.
There's no understanding of how everyone keeps getting infected with this virus; and how Purin went from being the only threat to Takeshi to now killing Batou... WTF. This is the worst plot twist I've ever seen in ghost in the Shell. It started so strongly too. I'm really disappointed in this. If they patch it up next episode then maybe there's a chance, but I can't rate this highly based on what I've seen since episode 6... it's really a shame
