For those of you who seen the English Dub, how was it?

I went to see the subbed version in theatres earlier this week, and want to catch it again. Debating whether or not to see the English Sub again, or to grab a front-row seat to the English Dub this time around.

Watching the song medley for the ENG dub surprised me. The dub VA nailed it!

I thought they did a really good job, especially the singer for Belle. She was definitely the stand-out for me.

I really loved the dub, I think it also helps to make the movie easier to understand overall, and the singing performance was great.

Literally just got back from watching this at the cinema!

I specifically went to see the dubbed version because the English songs in the trailer sounded phenomenal, I certainly wasn't disappointed on that front!

The main cast were mostly brilliant,
, Suzu and Hiro were perfectly cast and gave some of the best dub performances I've seen imo. There were a few awkward lines but I think that's the movie's fault tbh.

The side sharacters were a mixed bag, but they all ranged from competent to amazing. Suzu's dad was probably the worst, and Justice's VA was good but definitely not on the same level as Hiro and Suzu and it showed with the amount of screentime he had.

I saw it subbed in the cinema at the BFI back October and last night watched the dubbed version in my local cinema and can say they are both great.

The dubbed vocal performances were extraordinarily good. Some of the side characters came of as average but it nailed it with the main characters and soundtrack. Highly recommend giving the dub a chance.

So I just got back from watching the dub, and I can tell you it was 100% worth it. The dub is not at all hard to get into. I found it a lot easier to pick up on small details I missed before (due to it being my second viewing, and there being no subs). It was really nice being able to read the expressions on the characters' faces, and to let their dialogue just sort of flow on by. And to read the background-details of the U-verse too, when the voice-overs are going on.

Also, this is just a personal observation, but I do find that I'm drawn more towards the characters in the ENG sub so far. I really appreciated Suzu's Dad in the sub. Despite him having so few lines, his character comes across really well with the JPN VA. Meanwhile the dad in the dub didn't seem to strike that same balance of kindness/concern/patience/understanding for their daughter who's having difficulty processing their own grief.
