| Taiyou being the cop, caring more about arresting Touya than the fact that Ashin has been damaged. Artificial gravity is generated centrifugally with each floor named after the celestial body its force is similar to. Moon-born Touya first has to master Mars' gravity before Earth's. More background on Touya's animosity towards Earth. Space is still expensive for governments in 2045. From the Eathers' perspective, their tax money goes towards keeping Touya alive. As if wishing for an unpredictable celestial body to hit the Earth was not enough for Touya, he advocates for technological singularity. The implant Konoha has can work like a built-in defibrillator. The caveat is that it's password locked. The hacking that Nasa scolds Touya for, that Taiyou threatens to arrest him for, is saving their lives. Touya's internet fame as the "last kid born in space" hides a dark truth; Touya and Konoha are the exceptions to the moon's high infant mortality rate thanks to their implants. But that which enabled them to survive also comes with a caveat... Touya's crusade against cognitive limiters goes much deeper than his reaction to Eathers discriminating against him. He needs an AI as smart as the now-dead AI that designed his implant. One that can understand the design and fix its fatal flaws. A bigger mystery is who's inside this costume. What's that on the chief's back? |
