Can't wait! What a cliff hanger! Wow, I wonder what happens next, despite me already having watched the movie!

And hahahahaha. Funny post-credits scene with Nezuko. She had a butt-chin hahahaha. This is what they meant when they said the television adaption of the movie will have extra content! Hahahah top notch...excellent!

.

.

.

Imagine you live in Japan and they're airing this live on television. Imagine this is being aired despite the fact that they broadcasted the movie on television for free already:

So why am I angry? Because when I heard that Demon Slayer is coming out with new episodes, I expected new (actual plot-relevant) content. And I feel betrayed. I feel bamboozled. I feel played like a fiddle. I was looking forward to it this Fall. But instead I've had nothing good to watch...I'm let down.

But I shouldn't complain, huh? Shouldn't even voice an opinion on the insanity of this or else the Demon Slayer anti-critique corps will pop up with their lame justifications.

(1) "Dragon Ball Super did it too."

(2) "They're a business. Anime isn't profitable, let them make their money."

(3) "They said new arc in December. Just wait and shut your mouth."

(4) "They need to air it for the people that didn't watch the movie"

(5) "Countries outside of Japan that don't have access to the movie and who's streaming services don't include the movie need these eps or else viewers will be confused."

------

(1) Just because another big show did something crappy, doesn't mean other animes should follow their example and do more crappy things. And it doesn't mean we shouldn't speak out about it being crappy. Normalize not normalizing bad things. I’ll say it again in another way: make it normal to fight against making bad things normal.

(2) Sure, businesses gonna bizness. But they shouldn't be surprised when it bites them in the back. But who am I kidding. The TV ratings in Japan still looking good. The only way I can boycott is by not watching these useless episodes on the streaming services I pay for. And hope that the streaming services lower the money they give to these companies in their deals after they see poor view counts for the episodes. And then hope that blowback encourages companies to not do this again.

(3) I am waiting for December. But I will not be quiet. I still think there's a chance that many voicing dissent to odd practices of businesses can prevent future such behavior. So I'll keep speaking out. But you know what, I'll respect your right to call me a whiny baby, because, just like how I should be able to speak out, you should be able to speak out against me.

(4) Like I mentioned, they broadcast the movie on TV for free already. And to a large audience. And they could continuously re-air the movie just like they've run reruns of the compilation specials to make sure people have chances to see it:

(5) This is possibly a fair point. However, couldn't they just release these episodes all at once to the streaming platforms? Splitting up a movie shouldn't take that much effort.

I also feel betrayed because if I had known the new episodes would just be the movie split into parts, I may have decided to wait and not buy the movie.

Am I really wrong to find something wrong in this? Am I really bad for feeling bad? Why is it so hard for you people to empathize? That's very un-Tanjiro of you.

It was very clear since the beginning that it was just going to be the movie split into parts..? The new content includes episode 1 and various scenes throughout the movie having additional cuts - AKA the movie with a few extra minutes. That doesn’t include the preview. Also, why did you make a spam account just for this lmao?

For number 5 by that logic why didnt they just release all of AOT S4 or MHA S5 all at once? Because they still need to animate them. They didn't rip the animations straight from the movie, they animated them all over again. You can see this well in EP 4, where there's a scene with the tuberculosis kid that was in the manga and episodes, but not in the movie.

Your statement is possibly you purposely joking (the joke being that you ignored most of my post besides the beginning and replied taking it at face value...that's actually pretty funny).
But just in case: the title and start of the post was me being sarcastic.

This isn't a spam account. I actually felt so strongly about this that it stirred me to create my first MyAnimeList.net account. I plan on continuing to make more posts using this account.

The first episode was ok and yes it was new content. However they could have released that as an OVA or a special. It doesn't warrant. And as far as the "extra scenes" go, they don't seem to be of much value. If they wanted to release them they could have added them as part of a blu-ray special. That goes for the "re-animation" of some scenes...like how MAPPA did for AoT 4 part 1. Did it really warrant reairing and rehashing the movie over a 6-9 week period, where most changes are insignificant and unnoticeable?

Concerning it being very clear since the beginning: it wasn't. I avoided the trailer and news because I avoid spoilers. When episode 1 came out and i realized "wow, they will be going with this route of re-airing the movie as episodes", I also learned of the 70 new scenes and had hope of that. But, as many would agree, the 70 new scenes are meaningless...and I think they're including the post-credit scenes as apart of those 70 new scenes...which really aren't that special and don't warrant this waste of 6-8

It irritates me. I can't help but be irritated. This seems very illogical to me. And extra-money grubbing to an extent that is insane and disrespectful to anime fans.

Well it does happen quite often in the anime industry. Companies sometimes produce stuff that exists for the sole purpose of making money for them whether the fans like it or not.

The fuck are you talking. They use same material as was in the movie, making new cuts would delay whole production to at least year later. It would be unreasonable in first place.

Yes, this commercial company clearly betrayed you for cutting a movie into a series an broadcasting it on TV right before the second season.
Their aim is to make money, and therefore also to make sure as many people as possible watch the next season. Some companies try to make many with scummy tactis like microtransactions, lootboxes or overpriced DLC (or whatever). This content comes at no extra cost and you can ignore it if you want.

Now I personally didn't watch the movie, but if I did I wouldn't have watched this series obviously. Unfortunately I never got around to it, so I picked up the series, which is to be honest really mediocre.

The fact you care so much speaks more to your own mental state than anything. Relax. Why get worked up over something literally does not matter at all and doesn’t compromise anything about the future of this series? Why feel betrayed by an anime? It doesn’t know you and doesn’t give a shit about you. Not even is not animate, it’s not even a tangible object and you feel betrayed!? I pity you because it’s really not worth taking up space in your life with caring about this and I genuinely hope you can move on into a position of ambivalence. You’ve got a finite amount of time to use your magnificent brain, the most complex thing in all of known existence there is and probably will ever be. So make sure it’s thinking about things that are worth it. I like Demon Slayer. I like any extra little bits I can get and I like re watching good shows. No it’s not as good as something new. But yes I enjoy it and in the end of the day it doesn’t matter.

The 7 ep adaption is incredibly unnecessary. The entire first episode was literally filler too ffs. The movie took out all of the unnecessary information in the manga and condensed it into 2 hours of content. The 7 episodes are needless and just waste time that could be spent working on future demon slayer seasons, or better yet another anime.
