The squid/ink puns in the dub of Squid Girl, can anyone explain what's being translated? Like, How do those puns work in the japanese dialogue?

In the dub and subtitles, Squid Girl's every other line has her replacing another word with Squid or Ink. IE: "I'm only squiding around." or "You really ink so?"

My question is, what's being translated here? Is she replacing certain words with Squid in her dialogue of the Japanese version?

If I remember correctly (it's been a while) she will usually just attach the word "ika" meaning squid to the end of a sentence, like a sentence ending particle. Or some other aquatic sounding word. Alternatively, she will go out of her way to use words which either are homynyms for or share kanji with some aquatic word.

She uses "-de geso" and "-ika"
