I went into this with mediocre expectations and that's exactly what I got. The story is all over the universe which can't be understood by us mere mortals.

Even though it was two hours long, I still couldn't make a proper connection between the plot and the moral of the story. How is a virtual world related to child abuse, how is her mom's death related to child abuse, how the heck is singing related to child abuse and much more...

Even though there are soo many things which are questionable but can be forgiven cuz it's a movie but still it should atleast keep the core plot together. I don't get it how the plot of the story was green lit or maybe it was not meant for humans.

I think you’re misunderstanding the story. The whole point is that the virtual avatars don’t represent who they are in the real world. Someone could look like they’re having a great time in the virtual world but their life is hell outside of it. Sometimes people use the internet to escape reality. That’s kinda the point of the film. The film is trying to show that people are quick to judge and have certain expectations when that isn’t always reality. It’s not merely a film about child abuse, singing and a virtual world. The overall theme of Belle has a deeper societal view of certain situations that occur within the film. So I guess the message can go over peoples heads. It’s not as simple as you make it out to be.

Oh I already know that. I also just watched summer wars. I understand that they were trying to give a message but if it goes over the head, what's the point. Maybe I'm just too stupid.

Something also worth mentioning is that storywise many things are kinda lose, and sometimes it really does not make too much sense. As plotholes should be something spotabble by anyone, I won't occupy this thread with any of those details.
But at least the art and the music are God-tier, and the concept about this U app feels fresh, new, and relevant to our current world, and for this reason alone, it was still a special and memorable movie for me.

It's is very nicely described. I also found the story being about those matters, and I certainly enjoyed the production.

The visual and sound elements are where the film shines. I like to call it a cinematic experience. Far as the story, I felt it wasn't as strong as some of Hosadas other films. We get a storyline for Suzu with some degree of growth but everyone else it's static. We don't know the fate of the two boys and that left me a bit uncomfortable, I have a feeling I'm not the only one.

I feel the same.....Apart from the animations and sound works story was randomly picked like side quest.

1. First of all her mother's action is wrong.Any parent in their right mind will think about their children first and if it's in their power to save other children..only then you should do those stunts. There's a reason why other parents are in shore waiting for trained personnel. You can't do one way trip when you have people who depend on you. She may have saved a random child's life but she majestically ruined the life she was supposed to protect.

2. What's with the sudden attraction towards the beast?. She even went as far as to write a love song for him....at this point she doesn't even know it's a kid. She just randomly started caring for that beast.

3. Beast will go rampage and hurt others because he is enduring? How does that make him any different than his father. He's not enduring he's transmitting it to others. He's now role model for others? Bruh...

4. Sending a teen girl alone overnight by group of well aware adults?
First concern is her wellbeing is in danger.
Second what can a puny child do to stop abusive father? STARE... come on really?
Lot worse could have happened if it wasn't for it being a movie.

5.And she came back...from doing what? Nothing.
Father is not accounted for his actions.
Kids are not in safe hands.
Other people or media don't know their location either. let's hope the wellfare old lade called comes for them.

My take out of this story.
Her mom was stupid....and died
Suzu was stupid and selfcentred and doesn't deserve her father(She didn't even apologize to him, only ate stomach full of dinner at the end.)
Now she caught her mom's stupidity and may someday do the same and die leaving out her family behind because "care for others" not your family.

And unwanted and outofnowhere romance between beast and Belle is unsettling because she loves the childhood friend guy.

Idk guys, this is the kind of movie i hate which gives nothing to you at the end.
0/10 for story
10/10 for the rest.
