Prequel but no sequel ?

I really did enjoy season 1 and 2, I know ppl might critize it's story or whatever but I'm just here to be entertained and if I am then I like the show. Although the animation in the spinoff was off putting but getting used to an animation style is no biggie and I ended up enjoying the show anyway. What I'm wondering is why they are pumping out these shows (by no means are they not entertaining) but not a sequel to the main story ?

I think the animation studio decided to animate this prequel and not continue with the main story is because it only covers a single volume of the LN, which was released before the volumes where the events of S2 occur. I imagine it will be something like a movie and I have a slight expectation, mainly to know what the past of Miyuki and Tatsuya was like.

This had to get animated eventually, it’s kinda important back story. Im sure that we’ll get news on a third season soon

The prequel is pretty important for knowing about the pasts of Miyuki and tatsuya.It will show how Miyuki actually became closer to her brother.So this prequel is an important part of the anime.

I mean it looks like very important and interesting prequel so I dont see what wrong if they animate this before s3

EXACTLY THIS.

I loved the first and second seasons. Evidently, they were successful enough to warrant more anime content, BUT then we get a weird spin-off from Miyuki's perspective and then a prequel.

WHY... :(

I get how you feel wanting a continuation of the story instead of rehashing of the same stuff, however this isnt the same as the season we just got, this series has alot of interesting and important backstory of the Shiba pair as well as all the backstory as to how Tatsuya got his name "Mahesvara (Demon of Okinawa)"

FYI, this is based on Volume 8 of the Light Novel which Season 2 skipped over. So really this should've been covered before Season 2. If this also does well I find it highly likely that we'll get a Season 3.
(S1:v1-4,6,7||S2:v9-11)

The creators were probably going for action, which the reminisce arc has. (The Battle of Okinawa /tatsuya going absolutely off) The Double 7 arc, which follows the second season really doesn’t have any.

…Thats my guess.

If I haven't seen other seasons yet and this is a prequel... Then should I watch this first then others or should I watch other seasons first?

You can watch Season 1 first. In the LNs, this prequel was released after the LNs that S1 adapted from. (Season 1 - Vol 1-4, 6, 7 / Reminiscence - Vol 8 / Season 2 - Vol 9, 10, 11 / Movie - Vol 11.5)
