| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It's nice seeing Lan Zhan's love for Wei Wuxian. Oh my god, in Wen Ning's flashback, when he's feeding a drink to a child with the Wen clan and Wei Ying in the bg, I noticed a valuable piece of foreshadowing. That was so subtle and clever! Lan Zhan's jealous of Wen Ning. lol Wei Wuxian said his last name is Lan. I know China censors homosexuality, but the creators of this donghua are giving more than enough clues to let us know what's actually going on. Fantasy protagonists are usually so dumb that I can't stand them. Seeing Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan being perfectly competent is such a breath of fresh air! |
| I really hated the last few episodes (way too rushed imo), but I have no complaints about this episode. I actually loved it. Not much happened, but it was funny and sweet with a few sad moments. I was happy to finally see my favourite moment form the book animated ("How would you know, it's not like you've died before". Oh, Jingyi if you only knew). We also got Drunk LWJ! I was afraid they were going to skip it, because if iirc it happened before Yi city in the novel. LWJ is adorable drunk! Also, when Wei Ying was watching the kids play out the sunshot campaign and "Jiang Cheng" made a comment about Wei Ying's death to "the Yiling patriarch", Wei Ying looked so sad. It was heartbreaking to watch. Anyway, I hope the next episodes will be as good as this one. |

| This ep was great! Thank you donghua team for including so many Wangxian moments. Drunk LWJ is adorable and also props to Bian Jiang for changing his voice a little for drunk LWJ. It's been a while since I've read the novel but iirc some scenes were rearranged again but so far it's still okay. Hopefully it will still work out fine for the rest of the eps. They even included the scene where the kids were reenacting Sunshot Campaign. Too bad they didn't include the part where WWX asks which one is playing LWJ but the part where LWJ picked up the kid who was playing Yiling Laozu was sweet. It was funny when WWX said his surname is Lan then LWJ accidentally picked up a chili pepper. Time to re-watch the ep again! |

| Only good episodes so far. Drunk Lan was clear fanservice but it wasn’t obnoxious and was kinda fun in its own right. Watching this series again really makes me realize how mid Tian Guan Ci Fu was. |

| Maybe I'm the only novel purist here who's loving the heck outta this season so far. This episode is no different to my enjoyment and I think I can guess what the donghua team will do with the Guanyin Temple jigsaw so early on. I can't believe the amount of knowledge known by both the cultivation and the common world. They know the literal dynamic of 3Zun. JGY cuddling up to LXC when NMJ gets angry? Wow. And I'm probably not alone in thinking LWJ helping 'WWX' kid was adorable |
| Bruhhh the frickin flashback was such a bittersweet moment, times of innocence in Gusu that they can never get back. Made me cry after seeing the parallels between them and their past selves T^T |
