I find it extremely rare for anime to have unfitting music - one of the things that constantly surprises me with anime is just how great the music itself is, as well as how appropriately they use it to supplement the mood. But as the title implies, the ED to Ep. 16 managed to be laughingly awful (i.e. literally made me laugh).

Which is unfortunate considering it was a rather huge moment that could've been amplified immensely with proper song choice. Oh well, at least it wasn't used in the final episode thank God

The general reaction to the song choice has always been mixed, some loved it some hated it. I stand on the side that loved it.

For one, its a catchy song and was a great song to end an episode. I felt like it fit the scene perfectly. It was a romantic moment and having an old school love song added to that atmosphere. We always tend to forget these two are adults and being mature adults they are unfazed by the concept of some good romantic love making. Its a great stark contrast to the growing relationship between the other "actual" immature teenage couple who still get flustered over simple hand holding.

Having an old school love song that the two adults probably have listened to growing up just fit the mature vibe as well. Obviously they're not gonna do anything cos they still think the other is physically still a kid. But I'd like to see the song choice as intended BECAUSE they're actually adults and if they knew the truth about the other.. things would have been different. Especially when you read the manga. The manga goes a little further after the anime's ending and its made clear that they both have sexual attraction to each other. Because they now are aware of the other being an adult, they don't have to hold back anymore.. and its implied they now have an active sex life.

I'd understand and agree with peoples' negative reaction if the song choice was used during the confession scene of the teenage couple. It doesn't fit at all and it doesn't make sense character wise cos they've never mentioned having a love for old school music.

That's my opinion.

Interesting, I had to rewatch the scene with all this in mind. It helps, but still does feel like an unnatural conclusion to come to in my opinion (conclusion meaning considering all of that context/thinking "old school song fits this actually older couple"). Also I don't remember any mention of them liking old school songs (especially from Hishiro); with Kaizaki there was at least implication I guess with his Mini Disc player, but still.

I will say the song itself was good, actually a very good fit that I found catchy, it's just specifically the entry of the English female voice "what a great song, what a great song, hey baby... etc.". Perhaps not even the existence of that portion of the song, just the timing of when it came in felt massive oof. Would've loved the choice if it didn't have those 5 seconds of lyric. Though again, watching it while thinking from the context of what you wrote, it wasn't quite as bad

I totally agree with you. There's only other anime that had me hooked on the music like this. Like the music was used so perfectly that it felt like you were experiencing the emotions and stuff like that yourself. It's called Kuzu no Honkai. You could check it out if you have time.

The ending song that was used in episode 16 titled " LALALA LOVE SONG" is originally song in Japanese drama "Long Vacation"starring Takuya Kimura and Tomoko Yamaguchi.
I was surprise back then when the eding song played I recognized that it was in Jdrama that I used to watch wayback😆🤣
