I haven’t read the manga, but this is just an OVA which means it’s a short 10 minute video that shows what looks like the main hooking point animated. It isn’t really given much context as to why things are happening and it would certainly make more sense if you read the manga. That said, I wasn’t really lost and was able to keep track with the characters and the what was going between the two characters. So, I would say watch the OVA and if you are intrigued, you can read the manga.

Its literally a 10 minute OVA, its not a stretch to do both. But I would suggest the anime OVA first and then the manga personally.

He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy.

The anime ova is absolutely beautiful. But, I personally prefer the manga so much more. But the ova isn't that long so just do both.

Maybe try watching the ova to get a general feel of how the story is presented and see if you like it. If you like, then read the manga.
