Just watching the first half of Episode 1 and seeing both characters before they interacted with each other, I could see two things.

1. Undertaker is a stoic, emotionless ace pilot killing machine
2. Lena is a pampered, idealistic, naive princess all about that peace

I'm waiting for Undertaker to tell Lena "I'll kill you" every time they meet and then never actually kill her.

You mean from Gundam Wing right? (I had forgotten their names, but you mentioning them reminded me of them)
This sort of dynamic really rubbed me the wrong way in that show, esp. as
so I dropped it at the 2nd episode.
I'm currently waiting for the season to end before I watch it, so I really hope this doesn't have something like that, because that really turned me off in Gundam Wing (as I said above) - hopefully either Lena will be more sensible than Relena (btw they have similar names: let's hope this isn't a bad omen) and won't tolerate kill threats, and/or this Undertaker guy is more sensible and doesn't spout that edgy bull in the 1st place.

It doesn't feel like that's the dynamic they have between them. So far, it seemed to me that Shin has a lot more character than Heero. I'm not saying he wouldn't say that to her (It'd be more surprising if he doesn't at some point), but I definitely expect their interactions to be on a much deeper level.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

Thanks for the insight (btw, by Shin you mean Shinigami (the one the OP called Undertaker), the male lead that is?). If it's indeed not like that, that's reassuring indeed.

P.S. As an aside, funny thing is I already knew from the Gundam subreddit that Heero was like that, but had thought it wouldn't bother me that much, yet in practice it did. So I guess I'll see how I feel about their dynamic when I end up watching it.

I'm pretty sure the other characters refer to the MC as Shin (his name is Shinei, but that nickname can also be interpreted as Shinigami indeed, good point!). I say keep watching, I'm personally enjoying it so far.

In truth, as I said above, I'm not watching it rn, as I'm waiting for the season to end so I can watch it at my own pace (I do this for a number of shows in the last few seasons, as to not have to follow too many seasonals) - which also means I did the Shinigami observation completely blind. Good to hear you're enjoying it though - that's probably a good sign for when I get around to watching it.

Unlike Relena and Heero, the two mains of this show aren't insufferable.

After read the novel i can understand the comparasion. Heero help's Relena and Relena help Heero in they character developmeant just like Shinei and Vladilena dinamics. Overall i like more Shinei developmeant than Heero, because he show more emotions and is not a crazzy psychopat, but i also like Heero, who learn a become someting elsa than a killer machine or a suicidal lunatic even with Shin being a suicidal lunatic too.
And while Relena and Vladilena are the naive and idealistic princess who become attached with the edgy boy who just know fight, these girls become good leaders in the future

After finishing this, Shin and Lena are vastly superior characters to Heero and Relena.

Setsuna remained the same robot in the end.
