The sub casting is 9.5/10 with a translation rating of 8.5/10 imo. It's really a good show all around with few complaints from me, and im glad politics on the side of crunchy roll stayed out in the sub (mostly). The dub however is unwatchable and you feel the discomfort of the actors coming through the jokes never land and its all around uncomfortable.

I personally think this show is terrible either way so I can only imagine how bad the dub makes it.

Not to hate on Dub watchers but I feel like once you get serious about watching anime you don't even bother with Dubs... being weeks, months or years (or never) behind is never fun... Voice acting is usually inferior on the EN side of things (as well as lack of talent like hearing the same 10 EN VA's in every show). If I ever got lazy enough where I didn't feel like watching sub anymore i'd probably just take a break from anime entirely. Like even when I started with anime I never watched dub (Unless u count DBZ and Pokémon.)

The lack of development in Tonikawa is supposed to be the selling point. It's supposed be flipping the formula on its head. But when you skip all of those steps that are in a reg romcom its just gonna come off as weird. And then you understand why the formula is the way it is. Tonikaku gets better as the season goes on, but you can never really take it seriously on any level because of the premise alone (and because of the characters and the real slice of lifeness lacking major direction) . It'll never be as highly rated as Kaguya sama or Horimiya or Oregairu or Jaku Chara because of the drama isn't very relatable to anyone. Like the only thing toni has got going for it other than the cutsey comfort stuff, light comedy and a bit of the awkward/sexy moments is the fact that She is literally a god (Kaguya) and Nasa isn't aware of that yet. Respond if you'd like lol.

Dunno man, I’ve been watching anime for 6 years and I still watch English dubs sometimes. Last dubbed show I watched was Great Pretender (although technically I watched it in multiple languages?) because it fit the plot better as well as honestly sounding better than the Japanese dub for certain characters. English dubbing has gotten much better in recent years. We’re just more critical about it because it’s easier to recognize bad acting for your first language compared to languages you aren’t fluent in.

Because dub is garbage. More so romance dub is garbage. Romance anime dialog is also usually garbage and the fact I can’t hear then say such blatantly annoying shit and instead get to read it makes the experience watchable and sometimes even enjoyable. That said tsukasa is a top tier waifu and I won’t watch the dub because it will spoil her purity.

The Sub is good to those who loves it but blatantly saying "all dubs are trash" is too much. Even for me. There are good and bad ones from both departments.

For me, I'm satisfied with the Sub and haven't tried the Dub as of yet but if its crunchyroll, most of the time they ruin it or so most of the folks say.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Watched the series in both jap and eng and resonated more with the dub. All the jokes, fluff moments and emotional moments hit the sweet spot of my soul ^_^. The series was romance heaven that scratched all of my rom itches, and I was able to best appreciate the feelings it stirred within me whilst not having to focus on reading translation subtitles.

I usually prefer dubbed over subbed most of the time, but now, I see myself in the middle. Anyway, I watched the subbed and I loved it. I was glad that it was getting dubbed, but I only watched a few episodes. Personally, I like the subbed version a lot more than the dubbed. I didn't like Nasa's voice in the dubbed version, but I did like Tsukasa's voice, however.

I've seen over twice as much anime as you and yet I almost always watch dubs. I strongly disagree with modern dubs being of inferior quality, and saying they only use "the same 10 EN VA's in every show" is objectively completely false. Waiting is annoying, but simuldubs are getting more common

To each their own but if ever feel like I wanna start watching dub, I'm taking a break from anime, respectfully. It's a big part of the experience for me, and for a lot of shows that do take place in Japan it's subtracts from the immersion to hear English in a Japanese highschool for example. Also as a weekly watcher being even 3 episodes behind can get you spoiled and you can't keep up with the week to week conversations about what's going on. I still generally think that Japanese VA's are better. They have better education for VA's, more competition, more variety and generally a better performance. Yes the 10 VA's for every show was an exaggeration obviously. Also twice as many shows doesn't mean as much when I'm basically at 100, its not like I'm under 20 like most "casual" watchers are. Shit id say even 50 can be considered serious if theirs enough variety on their list.
