THIS IS A LIGHT NOVEL ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS VOLUME.
----------------------------------------
Well, it starts with a prologue where girls have a hard time understanding math because basically math is a hard to learning, I am still confused about characterizations because I really purely read instead of reading while looking at the fandom to find out the characters list or anything. Do you think it’s okay to go out and have fun with another guy even though you have a boyfriend? Not only that, but isn’t this guy the first-year Chitose Saku? The one rumoured to be making passes at girls all the time, ohhh damn... This MC look like a badboy, xD. Btw it just a rumor, lol. So let's read on to find out who Chitose-kun is.

Actually it has the same prefix, which begins with the new school music in March and the beautiful cherry blossoms that fall. Class 5’s Chitose Saku is a womanizing scumbag (damn, how you get this title, xD.) Riajuu or hiriajuu this is still confusing, is that a name of someone or?

This is the first time that Chitose-kun's name has become a board at school, If there is a ranking for the mention of the name then Chitose will be number one. Uchida Yua she is Chitose's classmate. Hold on sec, What's written on Chitose's phone? Was that the previous dialogue? "Chitose-kun’s so dreamy! Take me!"

Looks like I dropped it in volume 1 chapter 3, because it's really complicated so I'll skip this. please add something if you know something, I will be happy if you answer my question above.

Saku is second year. Yeah he's the popular guy at school, but that reputation also came with its own trouble, like being approached by girls he is not interested in for romance (and make him look bad if he reject them) or people talking behind his back like in the anon message board.

Riajuu or hiriajuu this is still confusing, is that a name of someone or?
Riajuu is the normies who enjoys their life. Hi-riajuu are the opposite. For comparison in other anime, Hayama from Oregairu or Hinami from Tomozaki are riajuu. Often shown with boyfriend/girlfriend (and then the famous quote riajuu bakuhatsu shiro) but it's broader, like those who plays around happily with their friends, and just enjoy life. Compared to those who stay in the corner as if the whole world is their enemy.

Looks like I dropped it in volume 1 chapter 3, because it's really complicated so I'll skip this. please add something if you know something, I will be happy if you answer my question above.
Reading from fan-translation or the original Japanese?

Fan translation is up to chapter 2 or 3 last time I checked. The novel itself is of the thicker kind. Not Kawakami Minoru or Kyougoku Natsuhiko's blunt-weapon-thick, but volume 1 and 2 are 359 pages thick, while volume 3 are 440 pages thick. As comparison, usual light novel floats around 240 to under 330 pages. So maybe it's better to put request for licensing. For example, Yen Press got Tomozaki and Oregairu, both are also from Shogakukan.

I'd say it's interesting, and deserved the KonoRano 1st place last year. The author got a romantic way of putting words for his characters. Rather than seeing it as a harem love comedy, it's better to see it as story of "youth", about young people living their life, thinking of their choices, and keeping up that way of life among the world they exist in.

Volume 1 is about the normies and outcast. But volume 2 onward is in my opinion, more about "way of life" rather than caste conflicts. The characters got depth, strength, weakness, and more than just focusing on love.

Volume 5 will be released on April 20th.

Vol. 1 by Yen Press released yesterday and I was able to read it all in 2 nights.
Definitely wasn't expecting to like it this much, I thought this was gonna be another one of those high school harem rom-coms type of story, but that's definitely not the case, as the words in the afterworld said "I don't even know what genre this is".

Had some very beautiful moments in the beginning, and truly captured the feeling of "youth", i'd say my favorite character was Asuka, although I wish we saw more of her.
The final climax at the end was pretty good too, it build up to that moment and it felt satisfying the way Kenta's story was concluded. I can see why this is an award winning novel.

Also I really like the author's writing and the usage of imagery and fig. lang. it captured the feelings and emotions of the scenes very well most of the time.

Came in expecting a rom-com like Tomozaki, ended up with a story about a teenager going through high-school life ala Hyouka, but with an overly obnoxious MC instead

I mean, Chitose can be a great guy at times with him going well and beyond on assisting Kenta get back his footing in his social life and school, but it gets overshadowed by his "popular kid" persona and how much he tries to inflate it. Kenta's redemption arc this volume is cheesy but the shopping scene with Chitose and Yuuko was fun.

Haru's currently my fav of the bunch in the group, even if Chitose's kinda leaning towards Asuka atm

I haven't read many light novels, but I'm glad to have given this one a try, I had a blast with this first volume.

Chitose is such a fun MC and I really respect his way to be. His personality is bound to backfire someday tho, and I'm very curious to see the consequences.

Very fond of all the cast so far, they all already had some nice interactions and I loved the feeling of nice group of friends they had, all while keeping some mystery in what else could be there about them that we are not seeing yet, Yuzuki in special. Asuka has me so curious as well! Chitose really looks up to her, wondering about her way to be that so much appeals to him, and I so agree.

That chapter 5 with the confrontation from Kenta's point of view was fantastic and full of emotions, freaking gigachad Saku letting Kenta fight all he could, showing the progress he made those three weeks, only appearing to help when it was needed, him snapping out for all the awful things they were saying to Kenta just to hurt him was an incredible moment.

I can't wait to read the second volume when it's out, I had a blast with this first one and I'm really looking forward for more.

Pfftt... It may sound pathetic, but I don't care. For a loner like me to read Chiramune has been quite cringe.

I understand the perspective of popular people, especially in their confidence in social situations. But alas, my natural traits prevents me from... enjoying it, I guess? Just like your usual self-proclaimed introverts, I detest small talks and simply can't imagine myself enjoying talking the way main characters' clique do.

Haha, please pardon my edgy butt 🤣. Put simply, I can't understand the main characters' enjoyment in life since I was never popular, nor have I ever feel envious with their life, or have I even try to be one. And this, I think, prevents me from enjoying Chiramune. I mean, Chiramune gets #1 in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!, of course I would be curious to find out why.

Objective take. I think the popular kids perspective doing whatever young people do as main characters is definitely a fresh take. There is too much gloomy main characters all this while. Chitose is a chad, simple as that. And I can see many people will find him funny and likeable.

I would love to read more because of its #1 award, but sadly, it's not my cup of tea... 😥

Great read.
You'd like it if you're not the projecting type of person like some readers tend to become.
