Honestly, I cannot say a single good thing about this.
Animation, especially CGI is awful, some character's voice actors simply do not fit, female MC straight up deducing herself that they time traveled is just few pages of script missing, time travel itself is a complete asspull, driver bailing out of the car to fetch katana for Mr Samurai is a total "bruh" moment and so on.

I will watch it simply because I'm determined not to drop a single show in this season.
This is gonna be a challenge.

Alright, I went in blind to this anime. Right now, my expections are in the middle or quite low. 3D animation is really bad, like much more bad than Ajin and Dorohedoro. But, as always I can manage.

I'm quite surprised how they actually believed Sensui and the Shinobi guy that quick. Based on the reasoning from Yoshinaga that it is not since that samurai and a ninja exists in this post-apocalyptic world.

However, that really is illogical, you don't just believe right away. Only Adam reacted that they're crazy. Cathleen and others quickly believed it. To me, in order for their story to check it is to prove it.

Well, that's that. I'll keep watching it.

Dorohedoro is good and much better than Gibate
Dorohedoro have nice 2d animation and great background

Agreed. It has a better plot as well and amazing worldbuilding.

The worst thing for the people isn't that they turn into monsters, but that they turned into such ugly and horrible CG. Even if the writing becomes total garbage, I am still going to complete it considering this might be the last show Amano is involved with.

lol recap how beer bug caused violent protesting murder hornets that get stopped by tasers.
Interview & Edo prologue started off atmospheric & very nice. From the CG bad animation fight on it crashed downhill fast.
Very infodump heavy even bit repetitive. Cool character designs marred by lazy animation & dialogue.
MC & show reminds of Quinny in Juushinki Pandora.

If this doesn't turn into a trashy hyper violent 80s style OVA, I'm going to be super disappointed.

That was a bit of a slog..

Things I liked:

* some of the character designs are somewhat cool - particularly.. I like the makeup on the main girl and there’s a guy wearing purple lipstick in the intro. It reminds me of some Jojo art, or something like Jem.. Something rooted in 80s glam. These are few and far between though.

* the concept of people infected hearing the sound of water dripping is nice. Water torture perhaps.

Things I disliked;

* I noticed in particular during the fight that there were a lot of slow motion panning shots. Probably to make up for lack of animation. It got old real fast..

* the female character records herself at the start giving us a rundown of what’s been happening. Not only is this a cliche way of filling the viewers in, but why is she recording herself talking about this? Future generations can get her perspective perhaps, but it felt like lazy storytelling to me.

* in following on from the lazy storytelling, the two samurai are sitting on a boat in the middle of an ocean. One of them suddenly pipes up and says ‘hey you’re that guy who was exiled’, and the other one responds saying ‘hey you’re also that guy who was exiled’. Not literally in those words, but more or less.. This conversation was completely unnatural, stilted and again felt lazy.

* No one is phased they’re from the past.. They believe them with no questions asked.. Apart from the one guy at the end who acts shitty..

In light of everything that’s happening in the world at the moment, I was prepared for something interesting.. A surreal and horrifying reflection of what’s happening with COVID-19..
Instead we got this.. Lazy and tedious.
The opening seemed pretty stock too.. In fact it looks like it uses clips from future episodes. I wonder if this had a rushed production..

This is like Black Bullet, humanity in the brink of extinction due to an epidenic of a disease.

Biggest question for me here is, how will an 18 year old, who didn't graduate from high school, create a vaccine for a poorly understood disease? Welp, this is fiction. I guess it will somehow work out. lol

Character design is a bit strange for me. Humans look frail, they look starved. Monsters are so weird. Haha

I don't know if anyone had posted it, but isn't it funny that there is a plague anime, while there is a pandemic (Covid-19) going on and it might take a few more months before life can go back to, somewhat, normal.

When it started I immediately though "oh it's like covid19 but with monsters" and then it all went downwards...

The plot seems about as stupid as it can get, to be honest. The way people somehow accept both being brought from the 1600s to 2030 and the fact that a samurai and a shinobi (wat) did a time travel is...peculiar. Dialogue is baseline garbage, the cgi is pretty meh (then again, after watching arifurecrap, my standards have lowered considerably) as is animation and I really didn't like the girl, whatever her name is, out of nowhere grabbing samurai-san's hand like they'd been dating for months or were childhood friends...I'm sorry, what? I guess this is just a "yeah I'll end up in your bed" things but still, christ, give them at least a modicum of development before jumping immediately there.

All in all though, I had no expectations so the episode was ok. As an anime, it seems like it'll be on the line of something like katsume kami datta...I'm a disgraceful sucker for samurai and shinobi so I'll probably stick around for a few more episodes but it they'll be as bad as the first, I doubt I'll watch all of it.

Not as bad as people here are proclaiming it to be, but disappointing nonetheless considering some of the staff involved.

I find it amusing how some people rail against the idea of some of the characters time traveling, at a time when the isekai genre rules absolutely supreme. Isn't it the same kind of thing?

This anime starts off very interesting. As a person who has not read the manga, or whatever platform it was originally on, I am interested and have no intention of dropping it. The art included in this anime ranges from really nice to what the hell am I looking at. Following that comment, the art for the monsters was horrendous and it has a really different tone to it. It looks like they went for something 3D, which really just doesn't work for me. The start is basic, but I'm still interested in what is to come.

This negative reaction seems kind of strange to me. Obviously it's not a top-of-the-season show, but is it really that much worse than most shows? The biggest flaw in my book is how easily everyone seems to accept the time-traveling-Samurai premise, but as one character mentioned, once there is a disease that literally turns people to huge and deadly monsters, why accept that but not other completely implausible things? The idea of a disease causing such transformations is laughable, so why is time-travel so much worse?

I'm not saying that this is a great show, but the premise is about as bad as many other anime premises, and it had some pretty decent atmosphere to back it up.

This is not bad. At least the first episode for me. The story is generic zombie apocalypse but the cast is varied and interesting enough to set itself apart. The animation isn’t as bad some people here are saying.

The CG is truly horrendous tho.

Let’s see if episode 2 and beyond will change my mind lol.

I wouldnt say its as bad as all these comments are saying but... the dialogue was quite bland, asking who they are and saying ninja and samurai like 5 seperate times wasnt really needed. The animation wasnt awful though in my opinion. Hopefully the story line gets more interesting.. 3/5

Well at least it was funny and worth wasting my 20 minutes lol. Samurai-ninja-isekai-horror-apocalypse, with bishounens. I'm just surprised there are not vampires, robots, pop-idols and catgirls (yet?)
Dialogues are dumb, logic is nonexistent. And that monster, oh my. It's like from 60s Godzilla movies.

I never thought that there was going to be a more horrible anime than Island of The Giant Insects, but this takes the cake.

BTW Crunchyroll is proud of having this as an Original Production from them haha.

It seems that your CR money is well spend on crappy animations like this.

What is this animation? It's like it was ported from an old gaming system with how many frames were present in the 3D CGI parts. Also Kenroku's voice DOES NOT fit his appearance at all wtf. Jeez and that's only the tip of the iceberg too.. These two washed out samurai dudes came from no-mans-land into post-apocalyptic Japan faster than anything without any explanation.

We got an inkling from the narration at the beginning but it amounted to explaining 1% of what was actually going on.

I guess Sensui and Kenroku are hot tho so that's something, if I'm ignoring Kenroku's voice of course.

Also, the glasses doctor sounds like an old ass geezer even though his appearance says otherwise. Were they this pressed on budget?

Kinda reminds me of Tsubasa Chronicle and Drifters in a more terrible way, hopefully the story develops in a better way. Bit hilarious how almost everyone just accepts that thetime travel thing without questioning it, at least Adam was pretty realistic by thinking it is nonsense.

Omg that CG is AWFUL lmao. The plot is so damn generic as it is and the writers had to add a time traveling Samurai and Ninja too it with no reason for it. The time traveling aspect is beyond random and it feels very out of place. A light comes out of the ocean and sucks the Samurai and Ninja in. Now, they are in the year 2030 and it seems that no one gives a shit how they got there or who they are. So now they are trying to save humanity from these monsters. Sounds like a total mash up of 2 things that don't go together at all. Plus, the animation is wonky. The only thing not terrible about it is the art, it is fine at best. The music is trash too.
