THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Many new characters were introduced and lots of events happened this episode, culminating with the suicide of Habaki's family. It's clear they want to reach to the good part of the arc as soon as possible.

I'm surprised they didn't remove the ninja girls from this anime tbh. Wish Tanpopo's voice would be a bit better.

It's weird to think about it, that back in those times people could actually kill themselves like that because of some petty reason.
I can't even imagine pushing a knife into my own throat.
Watashi wa a victim of cyberbullying. Everyday someone online calls me a "weeb" desu. Watashi won't stand for this. 26 percent of bullying victims are chosen due to their race or religion desu. I may look like a basic white boy, but deep down I am Nihongo desu. Watashi religion is anime. Anata wa bullying me because of my race and religion desu ka? Disgusting desu. Anata should be ashamed of yourself, racist pig. A baka gaijin like anata is probably jealous of my race and culture, cause Nippon is more sugoi than your shitty country desu. Watashi pity anata. Well, there's quite a few new faces and plot threads and elements to digest, but I think the final arc is off to a good start. The stage has been well set for a brutal hunt and deathmatch between Anotsu Kagehisa and his Itto-ryuu vs Habaki Kagimura and his Rokki-dan. And of course, it'll be interesting to see what part Rin and Manji play in all this.

It was nice to see Magatsu in the limelight again too. And Habaki's bastard daughter seems like an interesting character. For some reason this is the arc that I remember the least from the manga (maybe I was still recovering from the prison arc trauma), so a lot of the stuff it's like I'm experiencing for the first time. Maybe that'll help me enjoy it more.

Honestly I thought it was pretty good. Manji and Rin were thrown to the side for a while and Habaki took the center. New characters introduced, and now the hunt begins. Off to a good start, the last arc.

The scene at the end with the snow was so beautifully animated. Really good music and voice acting too. My main issue with the episode was how we got from the end of the last episode to where Rin is now with Manji. I guess (because I haven't started the manga yet) that's one of the shortcomings of them skipping chapters... Assuming it's different in the manga. That said, the Habaki stuff more than made up for that issue.

The entirety of Volume 21 and majority of Volume 22 of the manga in this episode, condensed as usual.

Ryo joins the Rokki-dan with her father, Lord Habaki, to pursue the rest of the Itto-Ryu and its leader, Kagehisa Anotsu. Plus outside forces and internal politics, nothing is left afforded to waste.

But then, accountancy with both parties isn't guaranteed as it resulted in both hostages and tortures in the worst imaginable ways possible. And at worst timing possible, Taito Magatsu planned a good distraction ploy and the Rokki-dan essentially lost their battle to shreds to the next in-line leader, Hanabusa.

The Crimson Snow chapter truly lived up to the hype for all the emotions of the loss of Habaki's wife and son, and co-leader Hanabusa's nightmare with the former Rokki-dan leader.

Finally one episode that I can say that this is getting somewhere that's on par with the manga, building on the eventual climax.

No one mentioned the guy in the beginning with the strange sword, does that mean we know him and I missed something? I figured it was someone new. In that case, no spoilers please.

Great episode, especially the ending.

In episode 11 Shira told him Anotsu was in trouble. Then Magatsu went to Anotsu's aid and saw that Habaki Kagimura had massacred a bunch of Itto-ryuu. He joined back then, since they were friends in a time of need and Magatsu is a loyal guy.

That guy appeared in a previous scene where the Itto-ryuu gathered. He's one of their members, and his name is Baro.

Okay can someone explain in detail what happened in this episode and also the relation between the characters? Cause I really don't understand a lot of it. Also how when and why did Rin get to that Artist guy?

I feel like the show is telling us everything we need to know. This episode just moved so fast with so many moving pieces it was hard to keep track of what was going on. I get the gist though and very curious to see where Manji and Rin will slip back into the story.

The ending killed me inside a bit... that was messed up. Incredibly fast paced episode... and honestly, that's a big waste; that is, it would've been many times more impactful if this little consequence-aftermath arc was longer.

The end scene was kind of fucked up, I have to say even though Kagimura is a terrible person looking back at the previous arc, he doesn't back down from his convictions

I still wonder if I'm the only one who thinks that Hiroaki Samura was inspired of FMA (2003)'s führer Bradley for Habaki... Prideful one eyed moustached monster leader who's only weakness is to love his wife and (useless) son and has an interest in immortality.

Also yes : Having read the manga, it skips so much and it's a pity considering that the director knows how to work (Texhnolyze being damn slow but also the best anime I've ever watched)...

It is not inspired at all, FMA is from 2003, BOTI started to be made since 1993!

@Thecrot And ended in 2012... Bruh you know a manga of 30 volumes don't just run for a year? https://boti.fandom.com/wiki/Blade_of_the_Immortal:_Volume_22

If you check, volume 22 with the eye patch Habaki and his daughter on the cover (which has this episode events) got published in 2007... Habaki may have been created before Bradley, it doesn't prevent his development to be based on him.

Well brother, that's what I meant, it's not possible to finish a manga as long as the chapters in one year, but I want to say that Samura already had the structure of the characters in mind for sure!

I also looked over your list and you have great taste. I'm happy when I see people who still have BOTI as their favorites, for no other reason, but I feel very good, now seeing that everyone prefers fan service, it makes me sick more than anything :))

@Thecrot I'm not sure about that since he stated in numerous interviews (idk if it was at Angouleme or even before, I've read many) that the beginning is a bit wacky and he didn't want to spend so much time on this manga... But the overall manga is amazing anyways so who cares x)

I tried my best to convince my friends to read it and will still hope they do one day (but yeah it's strange because they mostly like mainstream stuff and only a couple of obscure manganime). I totally paused Vagabond at volume 20 to read the 30 volumes of BOTI and I don't regret at all! (even Sidooh for which I had even more hopes in high school isn't as intense even if the 1st arc/6 volumes goes hard). I have to be a fan of Hiroaki Samura since he inspired so many artists I love my favorite "mainstream" ones). Die Wergelder is one of the best mangas of the 2010's also! (it has everything, from the fights of BOTI to the dark humor and excentric characters of Wave listen to me! but I'm sure you're aware... And it has sci-fi stuff the only genre left that I trully wanted to see him work on)

He clearly said that he wasn't really interested in the image, that is, as if he emphasized the fact that the artwork doesn't matter as much as the story, but otherwise he did something impressive for me. Honestly, I have never seen such a manga, not that I am new to this anime industry, by no means, I have some orientation to what I choose to read/watch. And as proof, yes, I like works about Samurai, History and everything related to them. It fascinates me a lot, and Samura developed that throughout BOTI. I love the series very much, endlessly, from the manga to the anime, it gives me something else, a different vibe, which I can share with other enthusiasts or enthusiasts like myself! But, unfortunately, I don't really have such friends, many fall into this trap of exaggerated fan service and some animes that don't really have a purpose.
I'm not saying no, and I don't want to contradict myself, I also like some rom-com anime, but not too much, so I can develop an opinion based on these genres. I hope that I have been understood quite well, and I hope that it is clear to you when referring to this text that I have written.

Thank you for reading this far, it's not much but it matters to me that I was able to communicate with someone!
May you be successful in what you do and keep that list based like this, in its place :))
I wish you a good day/night!
