----------------------------------------
I am suddenly super invested in this. Gai is the upright, honest, and hard working kid that the director wants them to be despite his appearances. He must have noticed Gai was not one of the spoiled kids that got baited into asking for things. And he gave his claims some leniency. He gave Gai some hypothetical credit and he was sweating. Plus Gai and the director share their views about dumb, entitled, spoiled kids. Despite him not believing Gai now, he didn’t look sadistic this chapter. He was trying to wrap his head around Gai’s claims and was shown genuinely thinking. If he sees Gai acting in a good way here, perhaps he could realize he is telling the truth. If the director has any integrity in seeing “bad actions are bad” and he has doubts over Gai’s bad actions and also reaffirms that he behaves in a way he’d want him to then they could see eye to eye.

I laughed out loud when Gai stated “Is it news to you that police can’t always be fair and just?”, I feel like it was. The director’s stance on life seems childish in a way and I even found him cute when he was so averse to the idea of a shady cop. If this institute is connected to the Hirata family, which did get a reaction out of the director and his officer there, then perhaps the logic will start to make sense for them. I thought by calling the director a vicious and coldblooded snake that it would be taken badly, but maybe he would even appreciate Gai for asserting the claim, for if he was right the director may agree. As awful as he is I love this possibility of them growing together and the director even becoming an ally one day.
