THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER.

It was fun.
That hug was cute though.
LOL I just noticed the chapter was available in spanish since May.
I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something.

People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English.

Aye, I was expecting a "the adventure continues" type ending from the start, but the addition of them more or less dating is a good way to end it. It's a fun series, hope to see the finale animated one day.

So, this is currently rated higher than Mao, Takahashi's current work. Which I don't understand. Without talking too much about Mao now, here are my thoughts on Rinne:

I understand that this was created as one of those "read this on your way to work on the Shinkansen"-type of manga. Meaning it was not only episodic, but SUPER episodic: there were a lot of sub-stories that only spanned a single chapter. Which is basically fine, I don't mind episodic manga. I also don't mind that Takahashi built a cast consisting of her well-known stereotypical characters. It's what I have to expect when I read a manga of hers. The cast was different enough from her previous works to keep me interested. It was also pretty funny at times.

However, I also expect that a manga of roughly 400 chapters to have SOME kind of common thread. Rinne didn't have this at all. At most, you could identify Rinne's search for his money-- uhm mother as such if you were generous. But to me, this doesn't qualify.
Also, I was in this for some moderate background romance (as, again, I expect from Takahashi when I get all the other usual stuff). What I got was a very faint impression of such romance. In the end, it was acknowledged, but in a pretty shallow way.

With a proper climax at the end, this might have left a better impression overall, but the ending was also pretty lackluster.

So, what can I say... this was fun at times and I don't regret picking this manga up and finishing it. But this does not get more than a 6 for me.
At this point, Mao does seem much more promising to me, with a proper backstory and decent characterization.

Oh dear you don't compare Rinne with Mao you compare it with Inuyasha or Mermaid Saga, Rinne is to be comparated to Ranma but even so they are different kind of stories.

Of course it was your point of view as it is mine being patronizing for a manga that hasn't been rated as you expected is not Rinne fault nor is fault of anyone, the answer of why is it so, is because they are two different types of stories, at this point I pretty much prefer Rinne and that is not a bad thing, wait until Mao is finished then you can really talk about why is X manga ranked higher than the other.

Uhm.
This is obviously my personal Opinion. So if I want to compare Rinne to Mao - I do so, tyvm. I think I gave enough reason as to why I have come to my personal conclusion, pretty explicitly acknowledging the type of manga that Rinne is - not that I'd be Required to. I find Nothing wrong with comparing two manga of the same mangaka. (Rinne loses the comparison to Ranma, too, in my view, so there is that. Also, I think Rinne doesn't compare to Inu Yasha any better than to Mao. So I fail to see your point here.)

I also don't care if Rinne is rated better at the end of the day. I was just expressing my thoughts on this, which is all. So I don't "blame" anyone or anything, since - well, it doesn't bother me.
(On a side note, there are pretty few Readers of both Rinne and Mao anyway, so I don't really give both too much weight.)

Feel very Free to disagree about all of that, but don't be so condescending about it. Your opinion or rating of Rinne is neither more nor less relevant than mine.
