While not amazing nor as good as Tiger & Bunny, this series has definitely at least been worth a one time watch. Good music, on point humor charming characters and a massive plus most of the CG doesn't look god awful. Sunrise is seemingly one of the few studios who can pull off CG and hand-drawn animation transitions, meanwhile we get assaulted weekly by Goblin Slayer's god awful CG. What are your guys thoughts about the show so far? If you ask me it's completely flew under the radar and deserves a higher rating than it has currently.

The lobsided quantity of male to female characters doesn't automatically make something a harem and even then there's been no ecchi or perverse stuff in the series and there's only 5 episodes left. Claiming it as harem is a reach.

Absolutely. I think it balances humor and seriousness pretty well. Character development so far is pretty nice and they're all likable. Especially Max's backstory was pretty touching frankly. It's funny, very good animation (I actually think the CGI is also really well done) and I just love detective shows, no matter how not serious, albeit I have barely seen any. Definitely not a show of the season by any means but for a one-time watch it's really worth it.

EDIT: I think part of the reason why it's downrated so much is because it doesn't really have a... story. At least it didn't up until several episodes ago, as now they are seemingly setting something up with the Esperanza group. Which I think is pretty hype. Bamboo Man looked pretty dope. Also... it's just so easy to drop and downrate a series when you didn't like a first episode or two.

Run with the Wind is criminally underrated.

I don't think you've ever seen a harem then.

It definitely deserves better than what it's getting. I think it's biggest problem isn't just lack of a story, but rather that it lacks a story while feeling like it's trying to set one up. It ends up feeling a bit unfocused, although the individual plot stories are consistently pretty fun. Also, it's not exactly doing itself any favors inviting the comparison to Tiger & Bunny, since that's not a comparison that works favorably for it. The only thing I think it arguably does better than Tiger & Bunny is Kirill has yet to be as annoying as Kotetsu at his lowest moments, but even then he also never reaches the same highs either. It's hard for me to say this great series, but at the same time, it doesn't deserve sub 7.

They doomed themselves with all the female characters. Fujoshi aren't interested, so it'll never be as big as Tiger & Bunny.

I actually almost dropped it at the beginning, as I kept comparing it to Tiger & Bunny. But it came into its own. Glad I didn't drop it.

Agreed, it's got some nice comedy, enjoyable characters and a fairly interesting plot, though it is a little unfocused and takes detours too often from the main story. It's a shame how lowly it's rated by MAL standards though (with shows scored below 7 often being disregarded or seen as 'bad')
currently: doing my best!

Well said! I mean, either it should commit itself to being a comedy with some serious moments or it should be a serious story with humorous elements to lighten things up. But D&K is neither. It pretends to be serious...only to laugh in your face (literally, through the narrator!) and take an abrupt turn into nonsense-land. Then it struggles to be funny...only to undermine itself by bringing up a serious issue that has no place in a buddy cop show.

To make matters worse, Doug is unbelievably stoic and Kirill is unbelievably ditzy, so their characters have no charm at all and their partnership is dull as ditchwater. Seriously, the only duo in this I think work well are Yuri and Max, and they're not so much "work partners" as "life partners who also happen to work together." All the work partner duos have zero chemistry (and I'm not talking about shipping, here).

I originally had no desire to compare this to T&B, but since it comes up so often, I will: While T&B had a silly, simplistic, superhero-comic-esque plot, its characters and their interactions were strong, regardless of whether they were likeable or not. So it kind of made up for the shaky story development. On the other hand D&K has a paper-thin, unfocused plot and even thinner, more underdeveloped characters, so it has nothing to compensate for its flaws.

Also, on a completely unrelated note: I'm happy to see there's someone out there who acknowledges how annoying Koutetsu was capable of being when he was acting like a brat. (All the T&B fans seem to consider him as the one who can do no wrong, after all) That being said, he's still miles better than Kirill, and despite being nowhere near as "cool and collected" as Doug, I'd take Barnaby over him any day. And I thought Karina was insufferable but Deana... *shudder* It's hilarious how D&K made me adore the T&B cast in retrospect, so at least that's one good thing I got out of slogging through these 10 episodes ^_^

Tl;dr: For once I agree with MAL's rating for a series. For potential future viewers: I don't really recommend this, but give it a go if art/animation alone can keep you happy and you like watching pretty boys and girls in action or something. As for myself, I'll keep watching until the end now that I've come so far, but there's no way in hell I'll ever be re-watching it or rating it higher than a 5/10.

Not sure how MAL decided which characters it classed as main and which as support, but in my eyes there's only 2 core main characters (Doug and Kirill) who are both male. The extended 'main' cast consists of 5 men, 3 women and one asexual robot that looks like a woman. So yeah no matter how you look at it it's nothing like a harem.

It’s getting better by the episode!

I remember not being a fan of this show during its first few episodes but I’m really starting to like the Character interactions now! Also, the overarching Plot is steadily moving along with nice mix of comedy and heartfelt moments. It’s not the best show of the Season by any means, but definitely underrated and under-popular.

It deserves at least a 7.50 or something. I absolutely love this show. My only gripe is that I wish they would reference NEXTS at least once. It’s meant to be in the same universe but we’ve yet to even have an Easter egg about the heroes

Definitely think this should be around 7.0 to 7.25 instead of the current 6.82 . It's a decent comedy, the animation/art isn't terrible, and there are some interesting aspects in the plot.
