| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Picked up a hard copy to continue reading. It seems the journey of finding volume 2 will be much harder. It seems I highly underrated Ken. He's not the type to cheat on his journey to the top. He actually defied Gill's understanding of the entire universe through his love for his family which gave him the resolve to both take Gill and Ryu down. I imagine that Shinryuken was enough to knock Gill out. The way it juxtaposed both fights was cool. So, the theme of the manga has been laid out as clearly as it could be. As Gouken had said "You will not find the path by wielding only your fists", Ken understood that notion first. One must have something to fight for. Ryu actually reminds me of Guts from Berserk, all he's known how to do is fight under Gouken and he doesn't have much of a meaning apart from perfecting his craft. This should be a journey of discovering what it is that Ryu needs to fight for to finally find the path of a true martial artist. Cool! |
