THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Lol, characters in this show really have trouble dealing with everyday world problems. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this point. Pekola should really be more careful about donations in the future. Seems like even this anime celebrates Valentine's Day. Of course, it doesn't take long for Jashin to join in the fun. Amusing. |

Why didn't they use the Shokugeki joke during the actual cooking and instead, use it for a 10 second shitty joke of being kicked out. I dunno. Overall, another meh episode tbh. Lots of Pekola in this one. |

Heartwarming episode, especially with the last two parts with Pekola/Poporon and Jashin/Medusa. It was a nice ep. and for once, I didn't dislike Poporon. I hope there're more segments just focused on Jashin and Medusa alone, they're really cute together, especially when Jashin isn't taking advantage of Medusa. |

Nice to see things finally go Pekola's way for once, and to see her and Poporon get along for once too was a nice added bonus (but it says a lot about how well Poporon's doing in the human world that she thinks Pekola's 30,000 yen a day isn't much at all). Also nice to see Medusa and Jashin get along in a more wholesome fashion than usual, rather than just Jashin using her as an ATM. Just a nice, wholesome episode all around, which I did not expect from a show about a devil trying to kill and human and being violently punished for it. |

Ranacchi said: Jashin and Medusa are such a good couple together At first I thought Jashin was just milking her, but she turns out to care for Medusa after all This is how I like my romance anime; nice, adorable, and genuine Romantic anime? Well, Medusa x Jashin is certainly a cute and good ship, but I doubt that this is more than a ship material. Especially considering how the show handles canonically lesbian characters and always jokes about the immorality of Jashin. However, I remember the moment when Jashin indirectly compares herself to the future Medusa's toxic boyfriend, lol. |

If you're talking about the cop, it's less that she's a lesbian and more like she steals rare things that look cute, Jashin is just the cutest thing to her, but it wouldn't be different if Jashin was a guy. In terms of romantic girl x girl stuff Jashin x Medusa is the strongest of the series. There is also that Pekora x Poporon stuff that started in this episode, but I doubt the anime has time to adapt that much stuff with them. It took 10 episodes for Jashin x Medusa to get this good, with episode 7 being the turning point. |

Cop openly admits that she fell in love with Jashin at first sight and runs after her with hearts in her eyes, while Medusa and Jashin, although having a really good portion of ship tease, have never demonstrated a real sexual or romantic interest in each other. I understand perfectly well that you limit your choice to all-female show because of the yuri staff's waiting, but do not think that having a ship in itself means a real romantic line. At least until it ceases to be a joke about the "toxic husband and naive wife" and will not turn into a canon pairing like Tsubasa x Koyume in Comic Girls or ambiguous near-canon like Futaba x Kaoruko in the recent Revue Starlight. |

Yes, but what I'm saying is that cop feel in love with Jashin despite being a girl, not because she was a girl. Remember how she tried to steal that mascot of a guy, she doesn't care about genders, and the fact that Jashin can talk still doesn't make a difference for the other "objects" she has in her room. Medusa on the other hand felt in love with Jashin because she is Jashin, the toxic husband x naive wife stuff began to stop in episode 7, this show has surprisingly a lot of character progression, the most obvious example is Poporon with how much she has changed, and the chapters from episode 10 were adapted from volume 8 of the manga, while the other chapters in which they had a toxic relationship were from older volumes. At this point is safe to say that Medusa is in the same level as Koyume because of all the terms she used to describe Jashin during the whole Valentine's scene, specially because in Japan you only make handmade chocolate to your love. And in Revue, Junna x Nana are closer to canon than Kaoruko and Futaba. |

@Anon028 Not only, there is also such a phenomenon as "chocolate as a sign of respect." For example, it is given to relatives, senior or friends, even the opposite sex, like in 17 volume of Mahouka. Of course, this is a good ship tease, but without canonic romantic feelings, this is only an element of ambiguity. As for the "progress" in their relationship, their interaction has always consisted of alternating toxic black comedy and heartwarming moments, this one of the main themes for jokes in the series, not progress in their personalities or relationships. For example, in the 17th chapter, where Yurine says that their quarrel and reconciliation remind her of the relationship between a boy and a girl. As for Koyume, she openly uses the word koi and openly talks about her romantic or sexual attraction to Tsubasa, even trying to confess to her. Medusa and Jashin never had such a level in the relationship. Therefore, I want to talk to you only one thing - in itself ship tease or good ship does not mean a romantic line and the presence of any attraction or tension between the characters. Therefore, the accent and a certain symbolism are much more important, and not "aah, they look so cute together!". P.S Closer? Lol, to be closer to the canon than Kaoruko x Futaba, the girls need to make lesbian love right on the screen. I do not remember that Junna x Nana even had a canonical attraction. |

Lol, to be closer to the canon than Kaoruko x Futaba, the girls need to make lesbian love right on the screen. I do not remember that Junna x Nana even had a canonical attraction. But all the stuff Medusa said while evading the question to who was directed the chocolate, show there are canonic romantic feelings from her. But there is progress because the toxic stuff stopped happening, it's full on heartwarming now, Jashin still has a shitty personality like when she just took Pekora's money at the start of the episode, but that doesn't mean the relationships don't progress. Yes, what Yurine said was adapted in one of the first episodes (wrongly subbed btw), we're already in episode 10 with volume 8 from the manga material. And Medusa doesn't have to talk about her attraction like Koyume because she's beyond that point already, she has known Jashin for more than 7000 years already, there is obviously no tension like the feelings Koyume shows because Medusa already assumed her full role as the wife after being with her for these many thousands of years. I never say characters look cute together for no reason, I only say it when there is clearly attraction between them and that's the part I don't agree with you, just compare both dates in both shows, unlike Koyume struggling to confess, here Medusa in an alpha way took Jashin's hand at the start, and after they enjoyed themselves and she thanked Jashin and hugged her, Jashin blushed in a very dere way and carried her back home. Skipping back to the current episode, Jashin blushed in a super adorable way when she realized the chocolates were for her (not to mention all the jealousy she was feeling beforehand, she really wanted to kill whoever took Medusa from her). This is less "ahh, they look cute together" and more "ahh, they are a couple together, and they are also cute, but that's just a plus." And don't worry about this debate, I actually enjoy this kind of discussions. |

@Anon028 I do not think so. Of course, it is easy to interpret any positive, "special" attitude as an exclusive romantic feeling, but in the context it can be a melodramatic sign of friendship. Especially in together with the lack of any sexual or romantic attraction, as I already said. It's still a classic "interpretation any interaction as gay", including ignoring any other context except for a romantic and too serious attitude to any melodramatic moment. I doubt that such a comedy monster girl shonen is more subtle and complex in romantic subtext than even Utena or Maria-sama, not to mention that with such logic, they would have become a romantic official couple for a long time if "They have known each other for 7000 years and Medusa has long since understood everything". Eventually, I'm more than sure that the remaining episodes will also be repeated "Jashin abusive husband-Jashin loving friend", as before, since this is only one of the heartwarming moments, and not a real romantic "progress". Ultimately, I have nothing against shipping and Medusa x Jashin is really cute and nice ship, but it's obvious to me that this is nothing more than another comiccute image of girly friendship in CGDCT, not a real developing romantic stuff. --------------------------------- Well, I'm glad that this does not bother you, but I will finish our dialogue, for we are starting to repeaing a little and I do not want to turn the discussion of the episode of such a cute comedy into a tedious debate. Thanks for the adequate approach, I appreciate it. So, I hope that we understood each other's positions. |

This episodes Jashin-chan's references were EPIC!: Conan Edogawa of Detective Conan, Yukihira Souma of Shokugeki no Souma & Krista Lenz of Shinkegi no Kyojin! But all of the Studios kicked her out immediately! poor Jashin-chan, you just wanna wreck havoc! 5/5! |

Thanks for the adequate approach, I appreciate it. So, I hope that we understood each other's positions. There doesn't seem to be a lack of romantic one, and Medusa is too pure to have any sexual thoughts. And you're missing the point a bit there, it isn't about interpretations, they play the role of husband and wife directly, it's nothing subtle either, the progress that happened in the show is that Jashin went from abusive husband to at least a decent one in the course of the episodes, what changed Jashin and made it different to the previous 7000 years was Yurine, but that's besides the point, you know Jashin is an idiot, she couldn't figure out the chocolates were for her and she has done and said tons of dumb shit during the series, to the point she was trapped in a loop for 97 years that she could have gotten out if she had learned to not gamble, so she isn't smart enough to figure out what's going on between her and Medusa, even if Medusa clearly understands everything, she even denied she was jealous in episode 7 and her jealousy returned this episode. And sorry to break it to you, but nope, Jashin won't return to be abusive, this was her final moment with Medusa and it was a heartwarming one, showing how her character progressed and their relationship progressed romantically, and I'm not saying this because there are no more chapters of them later in the manga, no, I'm saying this because next episode is the final episode. This site is wrong, this show is only 11 episodes according to multiple japanese sites and twitter, and in the preview there were only Yurine and Jashin chapters. So the conclusion of Jashin and Medusa in the anime was already reached, if you think it ended romantic or not is your choice, but at this point there is nothing saying the feelings are platonic besides your words, they aren't even subtle about it with Medusa and the only reason to doubt Jashin is because how dumb she is and she can't see herself she is Medusa girlfriend/husband. And the people that watched the episode already commented, the crowd is small here. It's not a popular anime. |

Cute segment with Jashin and Medusa, but the show is too mean-spirited towards Pekola. It's getting tiring now. |

We'll see soon enough if there are 11 or 12 episodes. Twitter user @ jashinchan_PJ sure does seem to indicate the end is near. I can't figure out if he's affiliated with the production as well as the marketing. He also has a sense of humor, and it would be in keeping with the series to say that Jashin finally kills Yuri in episode 11 and show over. He has a tweet up yesterday to that effect. They did report back in August there would be 12 episodes, and I saw that Amazon is advertising 12 episodes on a blue ray. I figure there's a lot of Amazon money in the production, and they would insist on the full 12 episodes. I suppose a possible compromise could be 11 episodes and an OVA on the blue ray. I really hope there is a 12th episode. For that matter I'd like to see a second season, but I'm not holding my breath. Popularity outside of Japan means nothing when it comes to another season. I have no clue if this is popular in Japan or not. |

Kubota's voice tone here is so far removed from her irl look. Parody skits were cool. Pekola's parts not so much. |

My only problem with you ending the dialogue is that you keep saying it's my "interpretation" and then want to run away, I'm trying to say it's something that they aren't even trying to hide or be subtle at all, it's not just "my interpretation" calling it that and then trying to end everything, it just doesn't sit right with me. It's good if we reach a compromise, but at this point you're just saying I'm the only one that can see that stuff and not even making an attempt to say I'm right at anything, just dismissing me. |

Jashin-chan and Medusa are just too cute ~ Popporon and Pekola moments were great too! Pekola’s really got some tough luck though, falling for a scam like that jeez. Nice to see the Ice Sisters too. Some gold references btw! Absolutely loved those xD. |

Pekora is so unlucky. :( Poporon's idol performance made me smile. She was awesome on stage. Also, the audience made it even better. That Valentine's Day segment was heartwarming. Jashin-chan and Medusa are so cute together. ^_^ |

Well, the shoutouts to "Detective Conan", "Food Wars" and "Attack on Titan" were funny. Poor Pekora. She lost all money to donation that turns out to be a scam. And the better job she got was for the one that tried to kill her. WHoops. "You risk your life for mere 30 000?" - said someone who never experienced poverty or hunger. Jashin and Medusa are adorable couple :) . Once Jashin gets over her jealousy, of course. |
