A really great episode. Loved seeing Toshi back and him training Daigo was fun.

Felt emotional seeing Toshi's past with Goro with Kokoro e's (Major's original theme song) calmer instrumental version playing in the background. Triggered a lot of memories :)

Both Daigo and Hikaru are getting better. Lovely to see their growth already.

But... that ending really worries me.

Toshi divorced, not cool.
Wtf!
I wasn't expecting this to happen again, it's just like Gorou moving after the first season, Hikaru's mother is probably getting married.

Wow, and I was expecting a drama kinda more like a bad father and son relation between Toshi and Hikari, but the drama comes from his mother. This moving thing remembered me when Toshi moved and started playing in mifune little and became rivals with Goro, but since both kids have the same uniform I don't think we'll see something like that. Or not, who knows?

Those memories ;c

It seems Daigo and Hikaru is an impossible relationship. I have been few chapters waiting for them to make battery and leave everyone speechless but it seems it can't be. I hope Hikaru decides to stay and live with his father to continue in the Dolphins.

Many similarities to the original series, but executed differently.

And yes, this is a good opportunity for Daigo and Hikaru to become opponents.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Another good episode again. Earlier this week I actually read ahead in the manga of what was translated so far, so I can now definitely say that the anime is doing a GREAT job adapting the source material. They're padding out scenes and definitely adding a lot more substance to the original source material and its various scenes. That is most apparent in this episode in particular. I really like how they added the extra scenes with Hikaru and Daigo to give the "send-off" that much needed emotional impact that was a bit absent in the manga. The Goro-Toshi past montage was pure money as well.

Looking forward to seeing more of the relationship between Daigo and Toshi evolve, and can't wait for some upcoming Sakura action as well ;)

I'm going to be completely honest, I'm enjoying this as much as I enjoyed the original Major.

Looks like this will be like when Goro had to move away or something in line with that.

the episode over so fast damn.. that last cliffhanger reminds me of original's s1 sad ending. Also it was really pleasing to see some changes especially the flashbacks.

Wow, Hikaru's mom is a d!ck! lol. I mean come on, first she took all the custody rights, then she doesn't want him playing baseball. And then at the last second she makes Hikaru move away!? like wot! I mean maybe she has her reasons, and we're just not seeing the full story, but from our (audience) perspective that's how it totally looks like.

Also what's up with them completely recreating the first major? It's like almost the same anime with a slightly different skin. The main character Daigo starts off in little league Dolphins with his rival/best friend Hikaru and then the girl on the side that really likes the main character Sakura. And now the fated moment where the 2 best friends are separated and will eventually meet again. Ughh, it's almost the same formula! lol, with that said I still like it and it does give me some nostalgia.. But damn, just wish they mixed it up a little bit more.

I just want to mention that I'm very glad they animated the flashback in the riverbank with Goro and Toshi. I was waiting for that in the World Series OVA but they completely skipped it, making anime watchers wonder how Toshi even joined Majors. When he explained how he got offers from both Titans and Hornets but ultimately chose Hornets because he and Goro had never been a champion as a battery on the same team, really drives it home for me. When I watched Major as a child, I thought it was obvious they'll be teammates through and through being on different position. S2 even gave me hope but alas Goro can't stay put. In the original conversation though, it was Goro who was somehow annoyed that Toshi joined the Hornets because they could've had a good fight, until Toshi explained his reasons.

And then the divorce thing. Toshi is my favorite from the OG Major so knowing he was divorced really made me sad considering his family matters before.

Also, I'm loving the addition of the scenes. For one, Goro didn't have this much cameos, lol. He was the mysterious super father, probably a move by sensei to make 2nd more appealing to new readers and not be overwhelmed by recurring ones. Now the anime makes one want to watch the originals too for newcomers. Then the "goodbye" scene which was executed perfectly despite being completely absent by the manga. My heart was aching for Hikaru there, trying to stop himself from crying/feeling bad and trying to stay strong to make memories at least.

I already read the raw manga so I'm really looking forward each week what else they can add to make it fresh in my mind. I'm also wondering how many episodes is planned for this season. 26 was doable even if they didn't add anything but now they're really taking their time so hopefully at least more than 26 eps.

I loved seeing Toshi's flashbacks with Goro. All those good memories. Daigo seems to be improving a lot under Toshi. I wasn't expecting Hikaru's parents to be divorced. I was expecting some kind of drama with his dad never being around because of baseball. Of course the stupid mom ruins everything that they are working together for and now Hikaru is moving away. :( I'm really hoping Daigo continues playing despite this and training under Toshi. I'm expecting them to meet against each other in a game sometime in the future.

*cough, cough*

This episode was so gay. I loved it.

*whispers* Also probably why Toshi ended up with a divorce~

Also, I totally guessed Hikaru was moving but he's probably going to move in with his father to stay in the area.

Wait, doesn't Toshi have a love interest from the prequels, dafuq happened to her? And they aren't showing Hikaru's mother's face

Toshi did have a girl called Ayane Suzuki that crushed on him but nothing happened with it. And I'm assuming not for now.

I thought that as well at first but as I researched MAJOR wikipedia and there was some difference between manga and anime adaptation and she was mostly an original character since as wiki says - her plot were not present in the original manga. In the manga, she was never mentioned after Goro and Toshiya began school in Kaido.

BTW, also in anime as far I remember way back on season 5 or 6, we got to see scene where Taiga might have crush on Ayane.

This adaptation is sooo fucking good. In the manga, they didn't have all of those GoroToshi flashbacks but in the anime, it was added and it hit me hard. Love having a parallel battery. Its really interesting how this time, Toshi's son is the one having major family issues as a kid while it was the reverse in original Major. Now Daigo has a good family, good coach, and he's basically ready to kick ass... until his pitcher sorts out his issues.

Need more Major. I'm still yearning for a remake of World Series 😭

Aw man, this anime keeps giving me those warm fuzzy feelings.

My first impressions of Hikaru’s mom are decidedly sour. Maybe she has genuine reasons, but it looks like overstepping of her role/authority to me. No matter how much she may hate Toshiya for whatever reason, it’s not right to keep Hikaru away from baseball (or his father) if he wants it.

it actually didn't surprise for me that toshi got divorce after his childhood trauma from his parent, what worried me is that hikaru didn't want to be with his father much, there's much more than said.

toshi really brought back good memories.

and why to bring that kind of drama now? i really don't know what to expect now, but it actually annoyed me...

Toshi got divorced? Well at least good to know the drama doesn't come from Toshi's side but the mother. I feel bad for Hikaru now suddenly has to move away after he just settled in school and joined the baseball club.
