It probably means that the Highschool dxd manga is going to end at the same point as the anime so to see the continuation of the story the only way is reading the novels. It's sad bit given that we already have 24 novels I never expected the manga to catch up. And it's still better than Shinmai, whose manga adaptation covers only the first anime season.
