| I am very surprised again and am now wondering how wrong Super Eyepatch Wolf's critisicm in his YouTube Video: "The Junji Ito Collection is Disappointing Garbage" may be, because this was a solid adaption of two of my top favorite short stories from Junji Itou in Fashion Model and Long Dreams. 8/10. The art remains flat in it's comic art-style which doesn't shine some great moments of shock in the fascinating imagery, but Fuchi's voice actress' performance was great. The censoring lack of gore is disappointing, but the soundtrack and cinematography of the anime is well done. What I love about Fashion Model is; excluding the somewhat interesting unique sense of danger from the male protagonist is the presentation and fear of the horrendous face of Fuchi and later reveal of her being a true monster who eats their actress and one of the crew members before the protagonist dies himself. Disappointing the anime didn't clearly imply that fact, but it was awesome overall. Great adaption. Long Dreams was great as well. The performance of the cast from the female and the male protagonist exceeded my expectations from their great performances of terror. The whole experience of being stuck in long dreams that affect your physical and mental being is insane, to then makes the doctor to become mad himself. 'Disappointing they didn't reveal all of the man's dreams and different changes, thus 7.5/10 for that, but it's nice to see this story adapted. |
