THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

I didn't really understand the end. It was epic though. A new philosophy was created, the world will be understood more, the rebirth through destruction thing seemed very Buddhist, so maybe I just don't really get it. I guess Alexander destroyed the world by expanding the ideas that people had? I don't know.

Alexander essentially brought about the end of the current world and it's ideas, the age of Aristotle and Plato. The two characters at the very end are very key, Ptolemy would go on to form the Egyptian empire which is why his prophecy declared him as a future leader of the world and also why Alexander chooses not to kill him (in that timeskip to the future he discovers that the Tomb is for Ptolemy and not himself). Also the kid on the floor drawing all those mathematical equations was called Euclid. Euclid would go on to become the founder of Geometry.

I'll confess I looked this up myself abit to further explain the ending to me but now I know it all makes sense and I think the ending to this series is pretty amazing.

You understood the idea of the ending even if you understandably didn't grasp the specifics i.e the futures of Ptolemy and Euclid.

I ended up giving the series a 9/10 myself, definitely one of the most underrated Anime I've ever watched.

The last 2 shots were pretty confusing. I was expecting to see Alexander's death, and a bit more time to show the Indian situation. Still, it was a very styish show, even if the attempts at philosophy were somewhat questionable.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

And yeah this anime is seriously underrated - I created most of the episode discussions on it here in 2017! That really blows my mind, because I initially watched it back when it was on Adult Swim 16 years before I posted on here! I do remember a lot of other people were turned off by the art style.

Personally loved the artstyle. Peter Chung didn't get to make anywhere near enough animation with that iconic style of his. I watched this series dubbed and while possibly controversial TokyoPop made changes to the ost and just the general soundscape of the series especially for the dialogue which really elevates the show imo. Definitely one of those rare cases where the Anime is better in dub.
