I'll be looking forward to this. It's quite cute (and not in the usual cutesy way to me) and full of life.

*STARTS READING IMMEDIATELY*

The news didn't mention that THE INSECTS TALK TO THEM

Realistically, this could be the second 10 I've ever given to a show watched while airing. The first being Non Non Biyori Repeat. Which I rated 10 because it was about girls playing with insects.

Have you ever heard of....Bondage Fairies?

It's another manga about girls "playing" with insects.

@Lavendarjosh Oh, like those Nausicaa doujins. I'm not into insect-on-girl, but I am into part-insect monster girls like Rachnera or this Oomukade.

As for Hakumei to Mikochi, as commenter PianoConspiracy wrote: "It feels like a mixture of Wind in the Willows and Redwall in terms of children's books. Maybe with a hint of Frog and Toad."

I look forward to showing the anime to my mom during a future visit to England, after we finally watch Arrietty.

I'm worried that the show might get picked up by Amazon/Sentai, considering their claim that they're trying to curate a library of high-quality anime. http://decider.com/2017/06/30/anime-strike-curation-interview/ Granted, that is hilarious considering they took on Vatican Miracle Examiner (read: http://www.animenewsnetwork.cc/this-week-in-anime/2017-08-01/.119574 ), but this season there was a distinct sense that they'd taken the most promising titles that Netflix didn't already have. Made in Abyss, in particular, was similar as an acclaimed manga that looks cute but is targeted at adults, and not in the usual seinen moe way.

Oh well, even if I can't "support" it on Crunchyroll I'll still buy the manga if it ever gets an official translation. And I've never in my life bought any manga except Nausicaa.

...Oh, and this Gokicha model kit I bought came with a short manga, that's true.

Saw this in a bookstore last week and I'm pleasantly surprised to find that the manga is being scanlated and there's an anime adaptation in the works!

Can't wait for the anime to come out so I can add this to my top 10 and Sen to my favorite characters list! Though I really love all the characters, they're all so precious!

Well, Amazon's/Sentai's not as bad as Netflix when it comes to distributing it in general, are they?

@AmyTwo I have personal reasons not to join Amazon Prime - I don't want to have the incentive to buy things I don't need. If Anime Strike were a standalone service, I'd subscribe to it. I'm subscribed to the other Sentai service, HiDive (as well as Crunchyroll) right now.

Stumbled across this while going through the Winter 2018 list. Haven't read the manga, but from the description it sounds a bit like my favourite anime movie 「Karigurashi no Arrietty」which I'd definetly like to see more of. So definetly a PTW for now.

Yeah, it's absolutely like that. I was just thinking this morning about how they cut blueberries into slices like an apple and how cute that is. XD

And wow, I was expecting this wouldn't be coming until summer or spring at earliest. What a winter this will be.

There are works that even Lerche can't botch up story-wise

I hope Hakumei to Mikochi gets some good songs next year. Get Fhána on that, or Masumi Itou. (Flip Flappers ED, Humanity Has Declined ED)

I'm not sure where Masumi Itou sang and where she just composed (credited as a part of TO-MAS), but anyway, the OP will be sung by Chima, who was featured on the Flip Flappers ED; haha yay https://manga.tokyo/news/hakumei-mikochi-theme-song-singers-revealed/

Singer Chima will be in charge of Hakumei & Mikochi’s opening theme. The CD will be released on 24 January 2018 and cost 1,200 yen.

Voice actors Risae Matsuda (Hakumei) and Aoi Yuki (Konju) combine their voices to create the anime’s ending song of the anime. This CD will cost 1,200 yen and go on sale on 7 February 2018.

Here's Chima on the Grimoire of Zero ED:

Mini PVs with new music clips: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2017/12/18-1/shino-shimoji-and-aoi-yuki-sing-hakumei-and-mikochi-anime-theme-for-latest-promos

This winter, Lerche (Assassination Classroom) produces a TV anime adaptation of Takuto Kashiki's manga Hakumei And Mikochi - Tiny Life In The Woods. The manga from Fellows then Harta is a 2011 iyashikei/healing series about the daily lives of 9cm girls "Living in a tiny house in a tree, riding insects and birds, and making umbrellas out of leaves." Shino Shimoji voices Mikochi. She's joined by Aoi Yuko, voice of the series Konju for end theme "Harvest Moon Night," which is featured in a new set of promos.

Those aren't the same song, though?

...though it's on Amazon in Japan, it's apparently going to be on HiDive elsewhere! No mention of Amazon here, only HiDive: http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/news/sentai-filmworks-wins-big-with-the-small-forest-girls-of-hakumei-and-mikochi

I've subscribed to HiDive before, it's still under construction but was overall a good experience, with certain advantages over CrunchyRoll. I'm more than willing to do three months for this. They also have Mitsuboshi Colors and Takunomi, which look cute and fun.

seems like overall Sentai Filmworks is starting to separate themselves from Amazon since some of their stuff from amazon appeared on HiDive too (Fukumenkei Noise, Zero Kara hajimeru no sho for example)

I watched Konohana Kitan this season, loved it and saw it was made by Lerche (never heard of them before btw) so I took a look on their other animes and that's how I found Hakumei to Mikochi. It seems interesting. Can somebody tell me is this gonna be iyashikei as well?

Yes, it's a lovely and incredibly charming manga and I heavily doubt the anime would be anything but that

Is there any connection to made in abyss here? (staff wise) I just caught a glimpse of the PV & these character designs remind me of MiB designs. I tried to look at a few staff roles but didn't see any connection aside from Sentai Filmworks licensing both this show & MiB.
Respectfully ofc
