I could not add 1+1 to get a 2 from there! Did it mean Mirei was Akira all along? Or did Akira just possessed Shizu to help Sanae-san reconcile with Shizu?

This was an unbelievable development! Now Sanae-san is aware of Shizu's power to possess the dead. Well, it seems Akira-san's case was a bit unnatural as she is still alive but doesn't this mean she is more closer to the dead? Or perhaps she is somewhere just in between.

Now that I think about it, Chihiro did reluctantly say in one of the previous chapters that it was Mirei to Tetsu, not revealing it was Akira-san. He is really mature for his age (Ryou has good eyes!).

But most importantly, Akira-san managed to reconcile the broken relationship between Sanae-san and Shizu. The hug in the end was such a beautiful sending off between two best friends and a restart for a mother and a daughter.

Good thing that Tetsu and Shizu managed to reconcile as well. The playing with fireworks scenes were endearing.

I still have my reservation when it comes to Shizu's father. I don't like the way his eyes seem to be indifferent towards Shizu.

Wow, they just dropped a bomb there.
That means after Akira fell into her coma and Sanae asked her for help, Akira posessed Shizu in an attempt to do so.

She said she was an exception since she is on the verge of dying.
But I don't think this influences her condition. It's rather that her condition let her to do so.
I think if Akira had the choice, she would much rather wake up and help her family and her friend Sanae directly.

I wonder what Akiras end will look like. Will she miraculously wake up after 8 years? Or will she pass on when Sanaes family got fixed?

But the father Takashi is still one huge mystery to me. I wonder why he is so obsessed with locking his daughter away for all eternity.
He had a grudge against his father. Mabe he noticed that his father posesses his daughter and this is his way of revenge? At the cost of his own daughter? Maybe he gave up on her or never really loved her to begin with.

I love the mirei reveal. It was done so well last chapter. Subtly building to it. The change in her behavior around the family. nurturing suzu. The flashbacks being revealed to be both hers and shizus mothers. The narration about mothers and then her joy st her friemds wish being granted. It was nice to see her here. Talking to her friend. Also shizu mentioning letting tetsus mother use her body was excellent foreshadowing as well.

For those wondering it was definitely her the whole time. Mirei was an alias so no one but the ghosts and shizu new. Tetsus dad hot him that job so there was always a chance of people getting suspicious. Same with shizus parents. Her calling herself aki would have drawn parallels. It also makes ense if you look back at Mirei other appearances. She says she it takes a lot of effort to dress nice and get things for everyone. A very motherly thing to do. Says she wants to find a way to get shizu to enjoy life and find her. Boyfriend. She wanted to build a normal life for her to try and wake her up or get her interested in normal girl things. She also scolded tetsu for thinking Shizu wasn't human. Slapped him for thinking a girl could defend herself against a guy twice her size. And warned him about shizus growing feelings for him. And chastised him for ruining his future and highschool life for money. It was her the whole time for anyone who had doubts.this reveal alone has qualified this story as a masterpiece in my eyes. Its great story telling.
