What a fucking roller coaster of an episode. The flashbacks will most def make me cry next time I watch this, I'm just so entranced by the story right now.

Also people villainizing Mimi like, she was trapped in a facility majority of her life, her baby got taken from her, and she had to see so much bad come to Cocona. Like she has every right to be selfish for her child.

This gem is one of the best things to ever see the light of day and its disgusting the most unoriginal and boring seasonals ever get rated higher.

This right here is a brilliant example for what anime can be and why originals are more amazing than any manga or LN. It has a coherent storytelling with a main plot which has roots in every episode, stuff doesnt just happen, it gets set up beforehand, and not just the very episode before either. Its so artistically beautifull it might be a shaft show, but with its own style instead of a copy.

As someone who was very disappointed by the LWA series, this is what it could have been like. I will definitely have a closer look at this studio and everyone involved with its creation.

PS: I thought this last episode, but is the outro possibly 2 different stories? Its like one is Papika and mimi (fighting evil to get free) and the other is Papika and cocona.

It is for Madoka alone." - Homura
or how I would descripe Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.

Who came up with that borderline ecchi costume for NyuNyu?

We get confirmation that Salt is Cocona’s father but he didn’t really do anything for her. Mimi has a tragic backstory and her going insane with Cocona being taken from her makes sense, I just want to know how she had the power to go to Pure Illusion and how Salt’s dad found out. Overall Salt Mimi and Nyunyu lack a lot to make an impact. Looking forward for the Yayaka/Papika teamwork to get Cocona back.

Who the hell was the white cap KKK organization leader? Thats the real questions here. Overall its good, all the past really suit with what happen for the story of Pure Illusion and its real messed up. Unfortunately, Papika feeling must be broken considering her age in a confussion. What a mess

Ooookay my mind is blown.
And honestly, I don't know what to think of all this.
I understand that this show is about both who we are as a person and who we are for others (and I always got Steven Universe vibes from it but now more than ever), but I don't know, the way they handle this topic is both very well thought-out and very weirdly handled.
For exemple, the whole thing with Mimi. According to the show, her sudden change of behaviour is nothing more but another facet of herself she pretty much developed/expressed (hard to say if she always was like this or not) out of motherly instincts (as how a mother will do anything for her child). But the way it's been shown looked way more like a split personality (especially by how she interacted with the other version of herself), which consequently doesn't fit with the message about how we're always ourselves no matter which facet we're expressing.
I also have an issue with the show having taken around 9 episodes before finally addressing the plot, I really dislike when shows throw everything in the few last episodes (and this show also reminded me a lot of Darling in the Franxx... Now I know why). I mean, is it really this hard to follow a storyline ? It's like the people creating it had two different views on the show and that's quite weird in the end. (To be honest I miss its wackiness.)
But well, it's still quite good. But I'm really confused by many things, like what exactly happened to Mimi and how did Papika revert back to her younger self.
For Papika, in terms of symbolism I'm pretty sure it is to show how she's barely changed between the time she met Mimi and now, but it doesn't explain what exactly happened to her...

WOW

So Mimi transcended, she can change reality as she see fit.

Papika, Mimi, Salt grew up together. The girls are test subjects in the Pure Illusion experiment, which in one incident drove Salt's dad mad. The cult leader is the father probably.

Mimi in her desperation to save Cocona, changed her personality to the person that is evil Mimi who can alter dimensions with her mind. She's basically God.

How can they battle God??

I can't wait to find out what is the deal with Papika. Why is she younger now?

Also, Salt is Cocona's father!!

This show is actually nuts. Thought this was a stupid fantasy yuri bait mahou shoujo ps6chedelic psychological drama anime. This would already be fine for a good anime of any such genre.
But guess what? Nah fam we are on another ride.
This shiw just keeps getting better and better. Absolute mind blowing experience.
Who would have thought that grabdma is not grandma, papika and salt are not how they appears to be, yayaka and senpai had those backstories, and most importantly that who mimi was. Who would have thought that they actually used yayaka and cocona's jealousy to brought out all these stories in these 3 to 4 episodes.
This show is just absolutely nuts. Holy.
Sad for those who dropped the show early on.

Really, everything is coming together fantastically. Not as many visual feats this episode, but it made up for that with plot. And it's not just 'what a tweest!' developments, surprisingly a number of things were foreshadowed or could be inferred from early on.

So many things starting from the new girl, what with her design. So Cocona is Mimi's daughter and probably Salt is her dad and the strange cult Yayaka worked for is related to the original investigation and I guess it's leader is Salt's dad. But why there was an adulto Papika and now is teenager again? In the last episode forum I read that is because she is a time traveler but I don't know, at least that explains why she has that fetter but again why she didnt remember a thing until that episode, seems like I'm not paying enough attention. Mimi did all what she did to save Cocona basically and now like she lost her mind, is becoming so interesting but confusing.
