It's pretty close, but it has a good breathing room.
After this arc, there are currently 2 more arcs in the manga. In fact, it's actually just finishing the second arc and a new one is about to start (you could consider it 3 arcs, but I'll just say there's 2). These two are probably enough for a full season. Personally, I would've put the next arc with this season and it make it 2 cours, as I think it makes more sense, but it'll work either way.
Anyway, since this season is still airing and they won't release a new season right away, I think that the manga can produce enough content for them to keep the anime airing the way it has been (once a year). It seems that by the time a season ends, it has just about enough content for a new season, so it's not that far ahead.

Manga is not very far ahead, the Shira-Karasu match ends at ch 190 or somewhere around there and currently there are 229 chapters out. With that said there probably won't be another anime for Haikyuu for a year, so earliest might be April or Oct I'm guessing. If you don't want to wait a year, just read the manga since it's weekly.

Don't forget that Production I.G is also making the new FLCL and Legend of the Galactic Heroes in 2017, so they are busy

Is the new Legend of the Galactic Heroes gong to be a reboot? I always wanted to watch the original series, but I don't think the visuals have aged well.

It says is gonna be a readaptation of the novel, so we'll see
