Hi,

short answer for Prism:

Yes.

long spoilerfree answer:

whenever I start to read an ongoing series or a canceled manga I wonder, if it is worth your time and you can deal with the annoyance of missing closure (there is even a Big Bang theory episode about it^^) or the long journey of an ongoing (maybe neverending) manga, which is serialized over a long time, maybe even DECADES (*cough Berserk).

Two questions arise: Is the journey good enough? Will the cliffhanger/open end kill me?

I wont call Prism a masterpiece, there are far too many issues which could have been evaluated in more detail or presented in a total different way (not talking about the narration and tempo), but overall I can say that the common Yuri reader will probably like the story and the end was ("luckily") forced at a bearable point. Ofc many questions remain unanswered, but imo theyre not that important to make you throw out your monitor out of the window. The author probably would have developed a new arc or new chars at this point to create some more drama, but we will never know. :/ Well, that was hard to write about something without spoilering anything. ^^

In the end I can just say: have fun reading it, though the journey may be a bit short.

I think Prism is good enough, even if it was canceled. It has been a while now since I read it, but I remember really liking it for what it was, even if the ending leaves some things to be desired, as you said.

Sometimes it's the journey that matters and not the destination! Right?

Yep, but imo just to a certain degree. E.g. if the story is mediocre and ends up with a huge cliffhanger (e.g. (temporary?) breakup, NTR etc) it would be too unbearable to cope with it. Dunno if youre reading it right now, but just imagine What does the fox say would end with chapter 60. I dunno if Id recommend it if it wasnt ongoing right now, though I dont think the story is mediocre. On the other side there is the example with Fluttering Feelings. Though it currently has (and probably and sadly will forever have) an open end, I would recommend it without any 2nd thought.

It really depends, so I started this post to give my personal opinion about this issue. :D

I agree with both of you, even though the manga ended abruptly(I didn't even know it was cancelled until a few months later, I just assumed it was dropped by the translation group, so I looked out for volume releases that's when I learnt it was cancelled) it's a shame that it was cancelled, it was probably the 3rd or 4th GL manga I had read and I loved it then and still love it now, so the way it ended was still satisfying. I read it again today and since recently (I not too long ago) created an account here I wanted to look into what others thought of the end and I'm glad to see a topic already on it.

Ive always felt conflicted about starting a new or recently on going GL/yuri/shoujo ai series because most of them often get dropped or axed but I'm glad I read this one and Kanojo to Camera to Kanojo no Kisetsu (I don't know if you guys have read this one but it has a great story, art and characters however it's been on hiatus for awhile/dropped) I'm still waiting or hoping there will magically be a new kanojo to camera chapter, but I don't regret reading it. I got pretty lucky this past year and found some of the best and new yuri/GL series I picked up on during their early stages that actually gained momentum and the attention/readers they deserve like Yagate-kun ni Naru, the Love Doctor(if you like what does the Fox say or fluttering feelings you'd like this one, if you don't already) and Nanashi no Asterism. I don't get why series like Prism or even girl friends do not get the attention they deserve while Netsuzou Trap which I kinda hate(love and hate lol) gets so much attention and even an adaptation...
