That was another great episode - I'm loving this season, short as it is.

Props for the nice touch of playing Lala's song in the background as Kanda & Alma sat there in solace.

So Alma never wanted to hurt Kanda and ended up sacrificing himself, but why was he attacking Kanda viciously in the first place? I know he's an akuma, so was him becoming an akuma what had him going off on Kanda despite it later being revealed he didn't want to?

And I'm guessing it's up to interpretation if Kanda realized Alma and that person are the same?

Alma doesn't want Kanda to learn the truth that it was Kanda himself who killed his only reason to live and had lived a meaningless life for 9 years. He tried to bring Kanda to death along with him and the truth.

Ohhh, so he was actually trying to kill him in fear of it coming to light that he was that person- thus the possibility of Kanda living with the pain of knowing what he did? So towards the end when Alma self distrusted, that was him having a change of heart then?

Alma didn't have a change of heart, he just understood that he failed as he ran out of time and then, he learned that Kanda had heard Allen and him talking

Oh my, this feels hit hard in this episode. The Kanda and Alma moment are really well adapted in this episode IMO. Also, love both 14th and Lala's lullaby OST played in this episode.

It seems like there will at least adapt 2 chapters next episode.

2 and a half. Only the 1st few pages of 201 made it into the last episode. So this episode will give the rest of 201, then 202. And looking, we end the episode somewhere at the beginning of chapt. 203.

But the pace does seem to be a bit slower. Probably because the chapters are a bit longer.

The preview does seem like the pace is slowing down. Hope it won't rush too much though.

Why the hell did Link protect those two Level 4 in that one scene, when Alma self-destruct. You can clearly see the CROW magic seals around them.

Don't get silly, Link tried to restrain them with his spells, not to protect. If his magic seals look alike, it doesn't mean that the same spell is always cast. He restrained Allen exactly the same way in the end of episode (because of his 14-th aura).

Forgot about that... That being the truth, then Link very powerful, being able to seal even Level 4 Akuma.

For someone who hasn't read the manga (yet), these episodes feel really rushed. I thought Alma would be another fav of mine, but they killed him off really quick before I got any chances to like him more. Also, I know it's a Kanda/Allen arc and all, but I was really annoyed when I didn't see Lavi, for god-knows how long, to find out he disappears... WTF!?

I really do like this series and even this season, but alot of this season feels rushed. No spoilers please!

Kanda holding Alma tightly like that as he died had me bawling. Especially after he said he loved him. Fuck... This is too sad for my lil' gay heart. I hope their soul was saved and can move on now.

Alma D: his physical body is broken literally. Also interesting to learn about the origins of Alma's soul.

I like how they adapted that segment with a lot of emotions and better animation than the previous episode. The feels...I also kinda like how Allen went to attack the Millennium Earl.

Kanda and Alma's relationship has been very intense and I think this episode expressed their friendship at its conclusion. And about time Howard Link arrives to help!

Why do you always do this...? It's not just friendship! I bet if Alma's soul wasn't in a male body it wouldn't be a problem for you to acknowledge, right?

The thing I like about this is that a soul is a soul no matter what body it happens to be in. Kanda and Alma loved each other, despite being both males in this life, despite not even being both human at the end. Their love surpassed everything.

I wouldn't say it's exactly gay, considering that soul belongs to initial Kanda's lover who is female. And it looks like he is fully aware of it now.

Jotakak said:

Here's the way I see it, if Alma were female after reincarnation would we even have this discussion or know it's romantic? My bet's on the later. I guess I can see where people are coming from when they think it's friendship, but I sure don't hold my friends that way.

About the rest of the episode, I cried like a baby just like I did in the manga.

Here is the thing, Kanda held him like that after he learned who he is. After Alma remembered who he is. Until the point of their awakening, Kanda and Alma were friends.

Once Alma remembered who he is and Kanda found out as well, it was more about their Souls finding each other. It's not Alma and Kanda from the childhood.

Pure Alma/Kanda are close friends. This is a mix. You can claim it gay, but technically it were their souls saying last goodbyes, souls that did not care about their body sex. Souls that were initially male and female.

Lol the whole point was that their souls are genderless. His soul isn't "female" and it's not "male" either so I'm not claiming it to be gay but rather that it doesn't matter whether their bodies are both male or male/female that they love each other regardless of their sex. People are trying to deny that relationship though simply because they both happened to be male in this life.

P.S. You screwed up the quoting because I didn't say the last quote, @PaladinAlchemist did but they were right on. This wouldn't even be up for discussion if Alma had been reincarnated as a girl.

Those were some sweet ass moments between Kanda and Alma. It's sad that it had to end like that. :(
Nice soundtrack as well, while the visuals have been piss poor at times the sound has been quite strong.

I still wish this had looked better overall.
I don't make it a point to complain about art/animation because people overwork themselves in this industry, but seeing much QUALITY is disappointing because anime is a visual medium.

I'm afraid it would be. Maybe less, but still. Fact is, that Kanda said "I love you" after he found out the truth. And Alma was not exactly Alma any more after remembering everything.

Unlike Kanda, he had full memory recollection. Alma was technically gone at that point.

I am sure this is all supposed to be touching but honestly I am so over this Alma/dead ex-lover x Kanda bullshit. I enjoy moments where they show the Noah more than Kanda's current yaoi lover.

The two lovers reincarnated with different bodies and have reunion is same as my own manga that I have in mind. Well, I cant make manga since I lack plot, ideas and creativity.

kanda X Alma is not bad but I also ship Allen X Kanda. Good bye Kanda and I think this will be the last time we see him :( Allen decision is right and let them have peace.

I've put finishing this on-hold at episode 8 since 2016. Now that I've got the hours to spare due to 2020 CoViD-19 global pandemic lockdowns, I guess this is a good opportunity to finally watching it till the end.

What is Nea's actual goal in all these? Destroying everything, yadda, yadda....ughh.

So Alma was actually the one Kanda was looking for all along? *sigh* Ok fine whatever.

Everybody is interfering with Allen who's trying to save everyone! Maybe he should just chill and watch their godforsaken world burn then? >_<
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

Alma is the girl.
Dat explosion.
Yu shattered.
Dat ball.

The boy was a girl.

Figured it was Kanda's lover who was Alma all along. The status elevated from being friends to longtime lovers pretty quick this episode.. between Kanda and Alma that is. Not gonna dig any implication behind. It is what it is. Also is it just me who didn't figure why actually Alma was trying to kill Kanda to begin with? As the reason they gave was.. I don't know just weird.

They made Allen a bad guy smh.

Interesting twist. However, that's not a good reason to go on a killing spree and murder Yu for it. I'm sure Alma can hide his/her true identity in a way that makes sense.
I couldn't relate to Yu & Alma's relationship and that "feels" moment. I find it weird that they must go through such a convoluted plot just to reach that conclusion.
While it's true that Allen is the 14th, it's not wise to seal him and deprive the Order of the firepower to fight against Noah.
