O-I Ultra Heavy Tank The details of this 150t monster tank had remained unknown for a long time. However in 2015, a president of plastic model company coincidentally discovered the classified papers of the O-I prototype model. The tank had a 150mm main gun and two 47mm anti-tank guns, along with a heavy machine gun turret. BTW the plastic model maker mentioned before is Fine Molds, who sells Girls und Panzer plastic models. |

Original quotes of Darjeeling's sayings. "If a single stalk floats on top of a cup of tea, it means that a stranger is coming - a hard, woody stalk indicates a male visitor and a soft stalk, a female. The length of the stalk tells you whether he or she will be tall or short. To find out when they will come, lay the stalk on the back of the left hand and hit it with the right. " Quote from Teamuse - Tea and Superstition Success is the child of audacity. -- Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881) O Fortune, Fortune, all men call thee fickle. -- William Shakespeare (1564-1616) Five minutes make the difference between victory and defeat. : Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) Actually the final battle at the central plaza ends in just 5 minutes. |

Information-packed movie is a trend of "movie for geeks" type films (no insult of course), but I think no other anime has ever packed so many info into one. This means we won't enjoy the movie fully just by watching it once, and it's a pleasure if this thread becomes a trigger for someone's rewatching. Here's a question related to this topic; What is the content of the conversation between Miho and Maho at the ending credit scene? You may possibly find the hints somewhere in the movie after rewatching it enough. |

Nina and Alina could hold either the shell or the charge. As long as they are loaded in the correct order, it doesn't matter who holds the shell/charge. Also the second pic came first before the first pic if you watch the movie again. The shell Nina was holding before was already fired when she picked up the charge. |

[Trivia] Actually the combat score of Alice is not really unrealistic. As she ordered at the beginning, heavy tanks in Ooarai combined team had been already handled by other crew, so most scores of Alice were from lower class tanks, means it could happen even if it were real world. Only threats for Centurion Mk.I at that time (except for Miho/Maho) were 75mm guns of M3 Lee and Hetzer, which she blew off both from behind. For your interest, German tank ace Michael Wittmann killed 12 tanks and 15 vehicles with Tiger I heavy tank in the Battle of Villers-Bocage. |

[Google] You can see how she carefully checked the payload and the condition before the flight. So, in reality, can C-5M Super Galaxy loaded with Ooarai's 8 panzers actually fly? Considering the fact that C-5M can carry two M1 Abrams at once, you may think 8 panzers are hopeless, saying "heh, it's anime after all ;-P". But I want to say that's not true. Let's try calculate. The official Max payload of C-5M is 129,274kg. The total weight of Ooarai panzers is this. The data from official website tells it's 208.95t. However, it seems that some of those data are of combat weight, not dry weight. The chart below is my recalculation of roughly estimated total dry weight. It is 175.8t, which means it's still 46.5t overweight. Giving up? No. C-5M's Max take off weight is 381.018kg, and Operating weight (self weight) is 181,437kg. (Max take off weight 381t) > (Operational weight 181.4t)+(Ooarai panzer weight 175.8t)+(Operators' weight 0.15t)= 357.35t !!! THE SUPER GALAXY CAN FLY !!! They may need to cut fuels down for that, but I firmly believe that a rich school like Saunders would have an aerial tanker or two. The weight problem is cleared. Here's another problem; the runway. Big airplane like C-5M requires runway of at least 2000m. Does the small school at evacuation site have such a huge school ground? Of course not. Heh, it's anime. l knew that.;-P This is awesome! I'm a bit late to the party here for having waited so long to see this, but I can still share a fun historical note: As is known, against other tanks, Japanese tanks were notoriously bad. Both in tank quality and the tactics used. Even at their best, they only gave a barely decent account of themselves against light Soviet armor in the 1930s, but were hopelessly outclassed by just about everyone (except China) by 1942. Only the US was more poorly prepared for modern combat in 1939. But, whereas the US quickly corrected its deficiencies, Japan never had the ability to, and most of its efforts, in all areas, were either too little, too late, or (more likely) both. But, despite all this, Japanese tanks performed remarkably well throughout the early years of the war. Just as Germany's inferior tanks constantly bested nations with better armor, so did Japan's, though for a different reason. What was it? Well, you saw it to some degree in the film. They were poorly armed and armored, yes. But much smaller and lighter than contemporaries. And that made them phenomenal in the restricted jungle and mountain terrain that covered much of South and East Asia - they could go where other tanks couldn't. Being unable to best enemy armor was hardly a drawback if you were the only one that could even get tanks to the battlefield! kemkemmers said: This seems convenient and plausible, but I wouldn't be so sure. The maximum payload of an aircraft is generally determined based on structural considerations, so it's not quite a simple case of save weight in A to put it in B. That ability is already factored in, and that fact is readily apparent with the math: The C-5M Super Galaxy, for example, has an operating empty weight of 181,437 kg, a maximum payload of 129,274 kg, and a fuel capacity of 150,819 kg. That puts its maximum actual weight at 461,530 kg, already over 80,000 kg over its maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 381,083 kg. This, by the way, holds true for all cargo and transport aircraft. The main reason they lose range at higher payloads is because they have to sacrifice fuel to have that load and be able to lift off. In the US, this is accommodated with aerial refueling, so an aircraft can lift off at max payload and then top off on fuel after takeoff (as insinuated).[Trivia] What Arisa holds in C-5M Super Galaxy airlifter is a real Takeoff Performance Chart. What that all means, of course, is that there is something else that's limiting payload. If one could simply just keep cutting fuel to allow more payload, the maximum should be significantly higher for all aircraft. That's not the case. In combat aircraft, for example, you'll find that the maximum payload is nothing more than adding up the maximum load of each hard point and bomb bay. No further cutting of fuel will increase it, as total weight has nothing to do with the actual limitation. In cargo aircraft, it's things like the floor, fuselage, and wing roots that limit the payload. Cutting weight from an area that doesn't stress those won't reduce their stress, and thus won't impact payload capacity. But, maybe we can save a bit more weight somewhere. Let's look in depth at those weights: The Hetzer has a stated combat weight of 15,750 kg. A 320L gasoline engine gives it 236.8 kg fuel. Ammunition is 40 rounds at 6.8 kg (weight of APBC), and up to 1200 rounds of 7.92x57mm (about 0.015 kg including belt links) - 290 kg all told. Assuming the crew is included, that would be around 300 kg on average. Supplies like food and water are not that much, but we can round it out to about 850 kg crew and consumables. It's about 1700 for the Tiger(P) using the same methodology, 1400 for the Panzer IV, 900 for the StuG III, 1250 for the Char B1, and a whopping 1800 for the M3. Data's sparse on the fuel and ammunition load of Japanese tanks, but I'll estimate about 1000 kg for the Chi-Nu, and 700 for the I-Go. That's 9600 kg saved, quite a bit less than estimated. Now, if you strip them to non-combat-ready storage/transportation mode, there might be a few hundred extra kilograms removable per tank, but it's still going to come out over 195,000 kg. And here I was hoping those rough estimates were low-balling, but it seems the reverse. There's a lot less weight in consumables than I would have thought. Oh well. I guess even that part has to be chalked up to creative license. For that matter, I'm also not too sure on the space issue either. |
